Everyone tells me thet the mag weapons, aside from the longbow, arent worth the time and trouble of collecting the mag for them. I dont play for looks but raw damage and usability. Can anyone shed some light on why, for example, the mag melee weapons arent worth obtaining.
The Magnatite Weapons suck. Well, at least for lvl 50s. I can tell ya, my Daen spear is better than the mag spear. ;)

and most have found the Daen, Eve spears to suck at lvl 50 too (at least i HATED the eve spear), the only mag weapon worth it is the barb sword imo but this is all very highly opinionated

Because we can all get the epic boss drops :P :P Magna weapons are good for their level and not game breaking if somebody gets them.

I have the Ancestral Sword for Barbarian.
i pefer it too my old claymore - Doesnt hit as hard as my claymore did but it's faster which really makes it useful for the style i play
264-280 (44+)
Hitchance +24
15+ Blunt Damage
15+ Pierce Damage
i put those 2 Gems into my sword and it hits slightly less then a storebought Claymore
the Weapons don't have any amazing damage but they offer alternative speeds and customizing with gems

you should have a look at screenshots of them and decide for yourself if they worth saving up for or not. i think the Dark Legion's website has a post with screenies of them in the image section.
my honest opinion is that theres no way you going to be able to collect 5000 magna's without buying most of them.
just some info you might consider when thinking about this:
The minimum selling price of a magna is 10k (or at least it is in Syrtis->Horus). that means you would need about 50 million to buy 5000 of them. by the time you get to lvl50 you should have around 150 magna's with 5 maybe 6 million gold if you didnt go on a spending spree sometime.

Imho the only mag weapon worth the time and money is the 2h sword... I can at least tell you the 1h hammer is not :crying1:

What are better Long Bows (range 30) then the magna bow then?

Not 1 bow from shop will be better then the mag bow, but very rarely someone obtaines a very good epic range lvl 30 longbow, which is better then the mag bow. I prefer longbows with med speed like composite viper longbow myself

I dont personally think the maga weps are worth the time and effort to get, and then once you do you need to either spend a lot more time and effort either grinding for that perfect gem you want (which may never drop at all) trying to barter one for some insane price or spending a load on xim trying trying your luck with gem pots, mine is awefull, 2* 3% attack speed gems ftw...
Magna weps, not worth it, one of these however?

if you collect mags as a clan to get one its not all that bad, but i would never try to get one by myself. i would rather use mags to buy an epic weapon.

for the effort and price, no they are totally not.
You can get some great epic armor that far surpasses or is on PAR at least with boss/mag weapons, aside from the rings/amulets for the bosses, most weapons are good yes, but nothing you cannot get for far less just you wont be as unique looking (unless you seriously need bragging rights that bad, id suggest extenze then)
