View Full Version : A Question About SotW (Not a Rant, An Honest Question)

Again, I'm not a beginner, but this area is labeled 'Questions', so here goes...
A couple of days ago (sorry, don't remember which day), I was on my warlock, running towards Samal, and a hunter popped up, and went into SotW (sorry, I don't remember which hunter). I had just woken up, and wasn't paying attension at first, so I cast Ivy on the hunter.
It landed.
I ended up dead, in part due to my surprise over Ivy having worked. Given SotW's high resistance rate (I didn't look up the number, but I'm pretty sure it's a big number), is this a bug, or just a numbers fluke? Nothing else I have ever casted on a SotW'd hunter has ever worked, so I'm curious what's up with this.
Thanks in advance.

I once managed to land MS (and it worked ^^) thorugh sotw, bet the hunter was quite suprised :)
Its very good protection vs spells, but it still has a small fail chance.

That might have been before my time. What's the difference between SotW now and SotW then?

The old sotw was like a god mode, you evaded everything, spells and autohits.

Yeah, like doppel said it evaded EVERYTHING.
It's was +90% evade at level 5 (IIRC) [also back then spells could be evaded and resisted] and getting _anything_ through it was like "HELL YEAH!!" whereas now it's "lol, I got xyz through sotw."

Yikes. Was there a lot of complaints about it like there is now?
When my conjurer was in the low 40's, fatigue was done away with, just so you know. When I started, Invasions were already in place I think.
When I hear the older players talking about the differences than and now, it makes me wish I had started sooner.

Yeah older players do this alot i think it's like playing FF 7 then being given FF X-2 as the next one, that'd make anyone cry i think.

Well back then you couldn't cast offensive spells under sotw.

Just curious; is there a page or site somewhere that shows what all the spells used to be? I think it'd be interesting for us relatively new people to see what the game used to be like...

I think the CN trainer is still running really old spells...
But even if it is, it's in spanish. ^^

If you want an idea of what it 'used' to be like, look at the complaints. A lot of them are really comments on wanting it back the way it was.
Game isn't 'bad' today... but definitely different!
I came back to play after a 6+ month gap, and I didn't recognize my Barb's powers for awhile lol

SotW used to give archers a really high resist to all powers
It still does, just not as much.
Imagine this scenario your on a non archer come against a marks (assuming older times) he cast DS on you, then sotw and hits you for 700+ base while you cannot touch him.
Now i think it is fairer (coming from a person with 1 of each subclass)
