View Full Version : Mounts make you immune to normal NPC attacks?

I wanted to get a confirmation on this from other players. When I recently tested out the Dark Elf mount, I was able to pass next to any and all NPC enemies without "aggro". The only exception seemed to be enemy guards. I successfully took a level 3 Dark Elf across the map and to the Syrtis realm's gate.

I regularly get aggro from savage mobs on the horse (esp. nice those trolls between agg and Trelle which stun you for like 10s >.< ).
Aggo mobs sometimes seem to react slow though and wont move since you are fast away from their aggro range.

My experience is you still get arggo, it just seems to be less of it.
The only aggro while on a mount you actually notice is the ranged mobs like ghosts of slaughter who can attack you as you ride away. Non-ranged pets may be chasing you, but you may not even notice.

I've never been aggro'd by an enemy NPC either (other than guards.)
I regularly get aggro from mobs or guard npc's while mounted.

The NPC near shaana save, Sigfried, usually aggros on enemies and beats the F out of them and I get a good laugh at it. :D
It would be nice addition if realm mount does not pull agrro in lands of its realm.

How can I get a dark elf mount? do they cost much? are they faster than a horse? J/K I couldn't evade/resist.

Here's the screenshot I took after riding right through Ignis and the conflict area untouched by any mob I passed:

I could even sit on my horse, right next to those big red demon NPC's, and they didn't attack me.

they're on their coffee break
jokes aside, I noticed that those guards don't attack at all and the same is for those at syrtis gate (wasn't able to get near ignis realm gate, I always die on the way)
I think its different during an invasion (correct me if I'm wrong)

Oh, when I approached those guards, they killed me on the spot. However, as a level 3 character I was able to travel across the entire Ignis region and across the entire conflict area to that other realm's gate. And I didn't get attacked by a single enemy NPC I rode past.
If by that you mean merchants, then they don't attack anybody. Sigfried near shaana save draws his sword and runs up to enemies but I never saw him actually attack anyone. In any case, merchants usually only have a few hundred hp.

No, I literally mean EVERY enemy in both my homeland as well as the conflict zone. Not one thing, save for NPC guards, ever attacked me. As in, I rode right up to skeletons, lizards, demons, all who conned purple. And they just stood there.

I'm guessing you mean the lack of aggro mobs?
There are lots of aggro mobs but you wont see them till higher levels. I guess as you did your interview in Ignis, this is where you decided to explore the lands from. I dont have much eperience in Ignis inner realm as I have only played in Alsius and Syrtis. Both these realms have aggro mobs in them. you start seeing them from around lvl 10 up, but saying that not all mobs are aggro.
Your run of the mill NPC's ie Merchants do not attack enemy players, however the guard NPC's will.

My suggestion: Play with Savage named Mobs and then you'll hate them like we all do. :3

I have been hit by cycs, golems, savage lions and evendim when mounted, you simply didnt go near any savage mobs.

Whether every mob should aggro you or not is actually a debated design question in MMO's. It's another flaw in MMO Sanctuary's review that they treat one answer to the question ("all mobs should aggro") as some kind of 11th commandment.
In fact, a big criticism of Lord of the Rings Online (a game featured prominently on the MMO Sacnctuary website) from players who otherwise like it, is that almost every mob you pass starts aggroing you until you level out. I played LotRO for four months, and I can tell you, it was very annoying.
This also reinforces the overall failure of the review: the inability to come to grips with the game's RvR combat, the reason people play Regnum in the first place. You learn early in the game what mobs to avoid when moving through the war zone, because one stun from a savage troll and you are helpless before your enemy. Having everything aggro you like in LotRO would just make the game unplayable.
