Hi everyone, I just started playing Regnum & i have to say - I'm really enjoying it so far (I'm only lvl 5) the graphics, music & general atmosphere are awesome.
A little about me: IRL my names Ben, I'm 22YO & I live in NZ -
I like Power Metal, MMOs & Coffee -
My favourite MMO is Vanguard SOH & Regnum online is officially my first foray into a PvP Oriented game - which is exciting!
My IGN is Vothdar Goldbeard, I'm a Dwarf Warrior & I usually Tank MMOs, but this is PvP - so i might go for an Offensive character (Barbarian is it?) 'cos i imagine tanking mechanics are different in PvP to say, keeping aggro on a boss -
In any case, if your from the Realm of Alsius - maybe I'll see you 'round & if you aren't, well - Maybe I'll see you on the battlefield.
Oh & here's Vothdar in action:

BTW if you have any tips, advice - anything like that, I'd really appreciate it.

Join a clan as soon as you get a chance (you are more likely to get help and advice there). While most top ranking clans are devoted to rvr and pvp, a few also spend time recruiting new players to help them with their first steps into the game and others merely exist for the lulz so change clans often to fit your needs, there are usually a whole lot to pick from.
Make a lot of friends, that's very important :]

Welcome. Barbarians are the offensive warrior class, right, knights can be great fun too. Knights have 2 stances now costing no mana giving them the ability to either do some good dmg but having nearly no def or dealing very low dmg with great def, you cna switch between those in fights.
Helping your realmmates by tanking isnt that hard, you can simply stand some metres in front of them to get the enemys attention or you support your friends by auras and buffs (making yourself an important target) or pull pets/summons aggro or simply rush in and spam ccs to get attacked. Both classes are a lot fun since the update imo.

Thanks for the welcome & info, I've got my Dwarf to 15 so far & i chose to be a Barbairian - I'm specializing in Blunt, preferably hammers 'cos they're epic.
It's quiet around the beginning areas on Horus, but I've met a handful of nice people, new players, new characters & i even got invited to a clan (Glacialis Ventus) - They're friendly & helpful, as is everyone else I've come across in my journeys.
So I'm having a good time, gonna log in now & go for lvl 16 :)

If you need anything you can always chat me "Klutu"
Some helpful things
www.regnum.wikia.com
/reset_powers <--- you can reset your powers and reskill very useful
The Game may seem quiet at times if realm chat is empty but theres always players in the Warzone and they cannot chat with you unless they are in the Realm

Hi, welcome to Alsius \o/
As mentioned before, most of the experienced players spend pretty much all thier time in the warzone where they're unable to use realm chat. Join a good clan as soon as possible as you are always in contact with your clanmates no matter where they are (unless they're dead waiting for a rez). Most of us are more than willing to help with anything from advice, directions to helping kill those impossible bosses you need to do for quests. Check the clan rankings.
Learn to use the wiki, its your bible to RO. Im not sure how up to date it is in terms of skills, attributes etc but im sure the quest logs are still spot on. Getting to lvl30 is a breeze in Alsius, but be prepaired to grind your ass off after that. The rewards are definately worth it. Ill be looking forward to fighting besides you soon.
I like the hair-do btw

Hi everyone, thanks again for the welcome - Things are going well, I'm almost lvl 21 & I've joined the newly reformed Chaos Clan (My last clan wasn't active around my hours)
After asking many questions & reading around on the wiki, i think i understand this game a bit better & I'm really enjoying it - I'm also getting used to the play-style of my Barbarian: I buff up, run in & kill as many things as i can before my HP gets low (I'm beginning to have more grinding in-between my downtime now, lol)
I do have a question though, when it comes to skills - is it better to upgrade a few skills, to a higher lvl or have a wide variety of skills albeit at weaker lvls?
ATM i have maybe 6 skills (3 buffs, 3 attacks) at lvl 2 & I'm doing OK -
But I'd like some advice.
Bye :)

At low levels it's best to have a wider array of spells. Consider investing more points into spells that you'll be using extensively as long as you don't break your setup. You'll always have points later, and you can always reset them.

Hi - Yea, it's awesome that you can reset your skills :)
I took your advice & spent my points to get alot of "different" skills, i have a bunch of buffs (Both offensive & defensive) & being a Barbarian, i seem to have alot of debilitating / damage skills which is cool - but it's still taking some getting used to.
I only die when i accidentally aggro more than i want, like when i use my AoE stun & don't see the "Impossible" mob right next to me :P
My only real issue so far & it IS improving as i lvl, is that i have alot of downtime when i grind - my HP depletes rapidly, but i can usually mow downa good handful of beasts before i need to rest - so it's OK.
Anyway, back to the game!

the sitting down is probaly because your a barb, and grinding alone, try without another barb, or just somebody else that weakens the mob so you can deal the killing blow, e.g., knight does 2 hits, you do 1 after mob is dead, knight barely took dmg.

Focus on using as much mana as possible to kill things without taking much damage. Mana regenerates much faster than hp for all classes, so don't be over-conservative with it.

Thanks for all the advice, my Barbarian is getting stronger & I'm getting better at playing him - I'm lvl 26 now & OMW to 30.
I also bought myself a mount, so runnin' between cities for quests isn't so bad anymore :P

Hi :) You from NZ aswell? Whereabouts, I'm from Wellington -
& what Realm do you play for? 'cos Alsius is the best ;)

I got myself a Benkku Voth, what mount did you get? I'll try and grab you next time you're on so we can go kill that Orc general dude.
Also, Australia represent.

A Benkku, awesome! I went cheap & got myself the Light Horse (they all run at the same speed anyway :P) but i have a bunch of Xim leftover which I'll use for Exp-boost when i need to grind :)
Orc general? Do you mean Throgg or Hellu, 'cos i conquered both of 'em - lol.
BUT hit me up in-game & I'll def come help you, what lvl are you now BTW?
I'm 29 now, think i have to grind to 30...
Bye!

When you are lvl 30 you can try to take part in war. Of course you die more often and do less dmg than a high lvl player but 30 is enough to have some fun.
