What is clan for you?

Yesterday I saw this question in game from one regular player (not newbie).
So I m interested how rest look on clan feature in this game.

Question was:
What is clan good for ? Besides clan chat ?

generally clans in ro is nothing more than chat tab, and team rankings.
however the content in clan chat tab makes hell of a difference.

for me clan provides players i like to play together and people i like to chat with. and insider jokes... lot of them :D

my clan meens nice people to me, which i can depend on ingame without any doubts. most of our clanmembers are older than the rest of regnum players and most of us meet once in a year for a weekend with laughter, bbq and some drinks :angel1: real life. it may be easier for us then for clans from different servers, though we all are germans (not so far away from each other as multicountryclans).

I can really say to have found reallife friends in an mmorpg. that's what my clanmates are for me.

Clan is where a group of friends gather so I can bitch and moan at them instead of taking it out on the rest of my realm. To be able to express my frustrations with the game to people who actually understand; rather than to random players who don't need me grinding on them. I would also say its good for coordination, but I tend to use party chat and mumble more for that.

As far as Regnum is concerned a clan is a larger version of a party with different coloured text.

I was thinking recently about Regnum clans. As a clan leader, I am a bit worried of increasing trends of thinking that clan is party extension. Clan system itself has barely anything to offer. Even what it offers is quite limited. I will give for example ranks. Not enough, very limited, and some people really care for ranks. You cannot please all or most, and to keep rank powers in the same time.

Maybe, just maybe, if NGD finally gives some love and higher meaning to clans, it will be more "respected" feature.

Clan means friends, means teamwork, means help between each other, mean to fight for same reason, means a chat where you feel home(even if with that colour my eyes go mad) and you communincate with your mates.

i dislike clans, full of arguments and having to hear what everyones doing, while no ones actually doing it together..

i stay clanless and im happy. you dont need a clan to help people. Ive helped countless clan members of pretty much all of the popular clans on syrtis horus, and saddest thing I saw once, was a conj who was totally ignoring his clannie trying to grind and always half dead n resting, while the conj was following around a pack of players for larger xp. So i helped them out cuz I felt bad about it.
sure its great n all, but there comes a point..or should, were you help the ones you pledge to band together with, instead of self serving goals.

thats probably why i hate sticking with a clan, i got tired of being bitched out over helping 'those' clan people because so and so hates them, or because they are 'noobs'.

Also became overwhelming trying to help everyone grind when multiple conjurers were in the clan yet always too busy. I love to help but on my own terms, if im not busy and see some random guy killing something ill go help him, and for that I dont need a clan to talk to him or lend a hand.

I dont like this whole idea of rank either, idk why, just never got the point..no offense.

For me my clan means
- in the first place, fun. Bunch of the most funny but mature people, i enjoy playing and talking/chatting or doing grimaces or w/e.
- "We stand together" People you can thrust they will help you out.

Its a little bit hard though, you kinda are stuck with either often noone on, or allowing in people that dont match your criteria on horus since you dont have too many players to chose from.

for me a clan is the consolidation of the group of people that you like play with. Also I like the ones that there are good mood between clan mates, and in the one who I am right now it´s a good example of this. It´s the clan where I have lasted more, so, I think I like it xD

For me a clan was the promise of working in a more coordinated way, a way to make an impact on the game with team play. Though it never quite happened. And also a place to help newer players advance. That is philosophy.

In the game though once the old ad hoc banking system was destroyed really all you have with a clan is a universal chat window. We can pretend it is other things, but in terms of game mechanics it is a chat window and a fairly limited clan ranking system.

So if you want to make a clan, or be in a clan, having a reason to be is important, my opinion, because the game offers very little reason to be in a clan otherwise.
