Remind you, nothing fixed, just a hint on the plans for the near future.

i really don't know how ngd could balance dual welding with double bonus (attack speed, str or damage), CGD, magnifications, different trees and so on if they couldn't even balance confuse in 3 years.
i'm a bit pessimistic about that

i really don't know how ngd could balance dual welding with double bonus (attack speed, str or damage), CGD, magnifications, different trees and so on if they couldn't even balance confuse in 3 years.
I kinda doubt it will be as complex as you think, dual wield is already mentioned in the description of the 2h tree, has been for years, as well as staff like weapons if I remember correctly, so it'll likely fall under that tree.
I'd be surprised if there is a new tree of many new spells brought in with Dual Wield, most likely it'll be new animations + new weapon graphics, and probably with a large chunk of those weapon sets borrowing from existing weapons.
I predict you'll buy them in pairs fitting into the existing trees, eg. Dual rapiers, rual hammers etc. Not buying a 1h spear (with its set of stats/bonuses) to use in one hand and a hammer (with its set of stats/bonuses) in the other.
They'll probably be faster than 2h weapons, and maybe with more mixed damage types, that's all.
Lots of possibly maybes here, but I reckon this is what we'll get :)

i think this could be the easyest way, but ngd is telling from AGES to barbarians that many 1handed weapon (knight's ones) have "warrior" as class requirement to make barbarian use them in the future dual welding update.
i remind you that barbarians can still obtain 1h weapon from platinum boxes.
and i still can't see how to balance a magnanite sword (fast, maybe with 2 attack speed gems) with a slow hammer/spear. i'm pessimisthic about that 2 weapon cycles that can't fit together in my mind

It'll certainly be interesting to see how they do it, and if that old excuse about barbarians being able to use one handed weapons from boxes in the far future actually comes to anything.

Don't be a pessimist, with more frequent balance updates we won't have to live with any of the glaring imbalances overlooked by the previous balance round for six months, instead hopefully they'll be fixed in a matter of weeks :)

And render the shield tree null and void? I doubt they'll go for it, in fact I think they said that knights defiantly won't have dual wield somewhere ...

Just a little something to add, guess enio couldnt screen it yet but i think its important and many many waiting for it to happen:

Thanks for the info. However I will not get ahead of my self. I look forward to any advances in the GUI. If they do come this year, great.
Twin weapons will be the easiest way but it will not be possible if they intend to keep the promise of barbs being able to use 'warrior' weapons. They would have to employ the main hand and off hand system if they want to do that.
That system and equations behind it are not easy to formulate by any means. I have researched how that is done in other games and to be honest , I don't envy their task if they intend to go that way.
