A program to make my video better

Hey all,
before 3 months I started recording some videos with some fights at RO and I uploaded them with windows media movie maker. But I soon realised that this program doesnt offer many effects,sound effect e.tc so I was wondering if anyone of you knows a program which has a wide variety of effects. So, If you do,let me know

Hi you can use this program Vegas pro studios 11.0 for edit the video, and the besth program for efects: after effects CS5.5.
