View Full Version : New game title developed by NGD
I just gleaned this from the Spanish forum.
I quote the NGD tweet :
"Check out Cartoon Network's new coming title developed by NGD Studios => Maldark: Conqueror of Worlds Premier Trailer"

I just wanted to say, best of luck on your newly developed title.

You started publishing games faster ^^ Good luck with it, and hopefully RO will soon see benefit from those side contracts.

NGD's newer games look better and better, but I feel that Regnum is slipping behind and isn't nearly as polished as them anymore.
/me hopes some more money will be invested in it. ^^

Well from the look it seems they use the same engine they developed for that Heroes game, probably need only minor adjustments and add content. And thats HUGE given starting a good engine from scratch and finalizing it/getting it bug free is quite an expensive task. The Artwork team probably has the most work to do, which wont hurt RO for now since they arent needed from what i know of current RO roadmap.
Good opportunity for $ with comparably low investment imho which could help RO in the end aswell, given that NGD keeps it as their precious child and doesnt abandon it or leave it run mainly as milking cow. Which i doubt given the hard work and especially nerves they already invested.

It's gotta run pretty bad if it uses the same engine as Regnum, lol. But yeah, especially with bunch of heroes (seriously, that game looks like a 100% clone to me) I doubt this game cost them much effort.
I just want moar balance. Naow. :cuac:

The game was developed on a licensed engine called Unity3D.
It's a free hack-and-slash action RPG based on the upcoming CN movie.
It will be available for free and it runs directly on the browser.
All of the coding was done by the ex-Hungry game team.
our art team has grown a quite a bit this year (as you can see for delivering BoH, Maldark and all of the visual improvements in Regnum).
As I always say, we need to do this kind of gigs to continue the ball rolling.
Regnum has greately benefited for this.
People that where brought in to work on this title are now working on Regnum.
(i.e.: on the the new GUI)

And I thought I was not gonna be able to play it like Bunch of Heroes just because of the system requirements. Thank you for this. :clapclap:

Nice that NGD goes on partnership with big companies like CN, you really need some more advertising.
Congrats for your new game, I'm really impressed you made it that fast.

Aww... It smells Flash or Java (or worse?) xD

Pity its singleplayer though. Could be fun for the downtime on RO updates xD

You can run any Windows browser under Wine. Also some browsers already wrap plugins, since Flash needed it long ago.
It generally requires you to be running the 32-bit version of said browser, though. Though with Vista/7 being mainstream now, 64-bit plugins are more common.

What really gets me about this is... Unity3D is written using Mono, which is mostly developed on Linux in the first place with cross platform aims in mind. It has to support OpenGL for 3D on OSX. Why is there no Linux client? (At least, no published linux client. See http://blogs.unity3d.com/2011/03/24/ninjacamp-iii-foxes-and-penguins-unite/).
