Welcome !

First, tell us which realm you chose to play in, so guys from this realm can help you.

Second, as soon as possible, find someone to show you the WAR, this is very important, because you have to see the main interest of this game.

Third, grinding and quests are somehow boring, ask advice about them, and go in warzone as soon as possible, the real fun is there.

About specific issues related to mac, Surak is the answer ;)

Lesson 3: Ignis is a very good choice, but you will be limited regarding subclasses, only barbarian, marksman or conjurer .... xD

Maybe try to start the game with forced safe mode.. also try enabling/disabling the "download all resources at once" option and allowing the resources to download before you enter the game

Crashes can happen because of many things, and since you're on a Mac it's going to be hard to find a fix for you.

One of the many things that could have caused it is because of having Weapon Trails turned on. There's a guard in the initiation zone that could have caused your crash. Try lowering down some settings in the options, it can also boost your performance(That means if the game is running slow, you can make it faster by disabling graphical features).

Don't be surprise when you will see group of Igneans chasing one target, thats normal here :D Illogical but real.
