Hi there, I've just recently started to war in the warzone and I'm having a blast ! ;) (despite my low level of 40 , I was wondering if anyone has any tips/strategies to share with me and any other people reading this thread:) I find open field fights more to my liking , i find the fort fights quite a bit harder , if anyoen has any tips or strategies to share that would be great and it would be nice to learn from you experienced members of the community ^^

You're already level 40!?
Seems like just yesterday you joined the clan <3
I saw you last night at herb. You confused me clapped and was late to get away. Confused conju is most of times very very angry. :D
As hunter be more careful, keep distance no matter what your enemy is. This class is squishy, but challenging. It is nice to see more ppl play today's unpopular classes.
Be vewy, vewy callefuww. :cuac:

Better, don't confuse Ieti at all, the whole realm will chase you to hell ! xD
Others dunno, but i will do for sure. Confuse grrrr...:rale:
For tips maybe it is good to ask old archers from your realm. Maybe quick silver, enio for example. They are pretty annoying and is very rare to be caught off guard.
well as far as I know, try to conf conjus( except ieti xD ) and try to keep some distance between enemies cuz you are a bit low for war zone and you are an easy target. For more info you should ask some experienced archers like ieti said
Atm, a high level hunter is still quite weak, so you have same problems, but on higher difficulty.
(try to) Stay away from warriors, in any case, if they come within 10m you are a good candidate to a free teleport to your central save.
A low level hunter can still track and inform his realm mates, you can't do much damages but still be able to camo and finish wounded enemies (but be prepared to run fast afterwards, use dots), use Reveal to counter enemy's hunters, Confuse versus conjs and knights, using long bows will ease your job (well, try both, but atm you're on a safer side with a bit of more range).
With your health points and defense, you are dead meat for high level marksmen if you aren't able to hide fast behind rocks/trees/walls/...
If you can afford spells like Stalker Surroundings you can help your realm mates to make surprise attacks, but as a drawback, this spell has a (very) long cooldown, experiment it.
Play, play and play.
In any case, welcome to Horus warzone, hunter class is fun to play, but at the moment a bit frustrating.

Thanks for the nice words/advice, ieti sorry but it had to be done;) and you'll be seeing me again im sure ;D I've had fun camoing and finishing off people on their low health, and then running like hell xD (p.s anyone know some spells to help with the survival? xD) as for stalker, i cant really use it much strategically in the large fort fights, its too quick paced.. i use it as a second camo mostly
I'll be sure to contact some experienced players in my realm, anymore that wouldnt mind me PMing them? :D
For anyone wondering, here is what I currently use in terms of setup
Longbows (15)
Shield piercing (4)
Parabolic shot (1)
Break Apart (4)
Tricks (15)
Ambush (4)
Sudden strike (1)

Evasion (9)
Evasive tactics (2)
Scouting (19)
Ensnaring Arrow (5)
Enemy Surveillance (3)
Camouflage (5)
Cold Blood (5)

hmm dont use shield piercing, not rly worth, idk whats your level but i assume you dont have enough points to skill sotw (son of the wind) even tho it fails sometimes (more than i would like argh -.-) its still a very useful spell.

Play it sneaky pretty much and don't go attacking knights with normals unless you have a fetish for hitting 13s.

Some tips from your realm-mate hunters
Hug Trees
Hug Rocks
Only attack people 10 lvls lower than you and only from camo, otherwise run like hell
Hug Trees
Hug Rocks
Then you can be a true Alsius hunter too! :D
Peace :angel2:
Oh, and I forgot. If you get attacked during grind, bring 20+ people zerg from cs.

A good hunter does that.
A bad one does:
- fight an OP class without help of terrain
- try to kill 2 buffed enemies with his 7-100 normal hits
- attack same level character without using surprise effect provided by camo
- don't run away from 1500+ hits barbs
- don't inform realm mates about enemies he can't kill alone
- do not share free XP/RP/wmc from enemies near cs
Why do you think only hunters from one realm over the three are smart enough ? xD

Hey. I know you're still somewhere in your low 40's so your setup is gona grow in time. Its looking good so far. I would put as 4-5 points into acrobatics and get son of the wind (2 or 3) once your able to get your evasion to 19. SoTW has a horrible success rate but most mages are reluctant to attack you while the animation is running so its more of a bluff skill to honest.
Don't listen to whoever said Shield Piercing is bad because it isn't as bad as it used to be. Its a nice piggy-back skill on a short cooldown and the damage is decent irrespective of how bad your gear might be. Also put some points into specialist when they become available to you if you think you need a slight damage boost.
Put a point into dirty fighting and see if it suits your play style. The damage boost is nice when used with cold blood. If you think you need to, put another 2 points into confuse because it really is your win button especially when surprising an enemy.
I haven't played my hunter in a while so some of my advice might be off

Shrouded.
ive seen you round also, you are learning fast, and doing great job.Listen to Zas aka annavilya, shes one of the smartest hunters horus has,she dont rely on uber resist rate like her realm mates, she uses cunning and brains, shes very killable...if you can catch her!
As for you your skill set up,id be more inclined to focus first on scouting, then evasion trees, use camou/stalker,and in evasion, use son of the wind, acrobatic and evasive tactics.
cast evasive tactics constantly as your running around buff, like tracking, never stop casting it.then you only need to cast acrobatic when you see aca.the casting of 2 defensive buffs when you see aca..can mean your death,as a hunter you need to be fast and smarter than your opponant!
also when attacking an enemy, keeping control of the fight,is paramount.getting the first confuse in,is a big step towards winning(sad to say),knowing when to use a knock or stun, and learning to identify what spells your opponant has cast so that you make better choices,is very important skill many hunters never learn!
as they said earlier, play play play, and dont always take what others tell you as fact, try new spells, experiment with them, see what fits your style, ask your realm mates for advice.there are always spells that all hunters will use in common, but there is still room for a wee bit of variation among hunters left to us!( wink wink NGD)
Lastly, dont give up on hunter class, its hard, its even impossible at low lvls on horus, but in time, you will do 15 damage from a normal hit on a fully buffed syrtis hunter!!..what joy is that huh,i bet you cant wait!!(sarcasm)
ill be sure to keep an eye on you anyways, ive got prolly the biggest stash of magical/epic bows in alsius, ill fix you up with items where i can!

+1 to this, and adding that its not better even as marks. Yesterday, with lvl47 marks, I was hitting alone marskman who was challenging to me and buffed with strategic position and acrobatics for 10 normals. Not even funny, cause he was hitting me for 400, while I was buffed too (my strategic position on 3, evasive+actrobatics on 4), but without OP armor bought at NPC (180+5 armor, normal pierce resist). It's this system how armor and level difference works, one just can't enjoy playing archer till you are high enough, till you get OP bows and till you get super uber armor with lots of +11 and very good pierce resists and till you are like 60. And before you get 60, you get tired of your super uber low hits, as I did. Not sure if i want to play my marks and hunter anymore, because I don't like spending my time grinding. Maybe I should've made another class where I don't need normals, such as conju, but even that requires you grind to like lvl50 to be able to heal and survive long enough to cast few heals before you get 2 hitted from barb fom 2.4k normals or one hitted for 4.2k by beast attack or mind squashed.

Really? I laughed myself silly.
You don't know funny until you've been feathered by 400-500s with 650 criticals from a range 20 beyond your furthest spells without even a single effective defensive buff to counter.
The plight of the frustrated warlock is never heard.

You can also have good moments as a hunter lvl 40 with solo captures :
- use stalker surroundings and camouflage at higher level possible (with both at lvl 5, you can be invisible 24/7 except during the time you cast the spell)
- When the fort you're inside is close to be captured bye ennemies, cast 1 of your camo spells, hide in a discreet place and wait all ennermies to leave the fort before capture back.
- with some luck, you will be able to kill afkers or surprised people with the help of your guards after capture.
- If ennemies upgrade the fort with a Guard Captain, or if they know that you're inside, just jump the wall at the correct place and escape like a true ninja.
- If you leave an upgraded fort, return with your realm mates as soon as possible (when the ennemy zerg is in another place) to get the reward for your efforts :angel2

please dont derail the topic
Thanks for all the posts btw ^^
i've been trying shortbow recently, and found out that its not so good for any group fights, only solo hunting , correct? :P and thanks for the advice to use DF its very good for this solo hunt, i was doing 400 normals with 700 ensnares under CB ^^
as for the defensive spells they do cost alot of mana to use and i find myself with half my mana bar out which isnt really desirable
however the current problems i have now i think, are with my levels and perhaps the range limitations i have. (need to get myself a decent range 35 bow)

haha i will have to try this sometime ^^ however it is fairly hard to find an unguarded lvl 1-3 fort xD and when im in the fort usually someone annoyingly comes up the stairs and finds me when im about to camo xD and there is a kind of glitch were guards can hit me under camo when im inside an enemy fort i think..

ehm.. ur using dodge :o ? or i should curse opera mini?
1. get rid of 3 tames lol.
2. get some points into maneurer if you use lbs.
3. i would use only acrobatics, evasive tactics and mobility from lvl 15 evasion.
3.
Erm.. i think something screwed up there xD I dont use pets tree or dodge O.o
i just checked the link its fine.. err try it again if not i'll post it in words here :P

Hm, where could i take the points out for those skills?
Wits - waste of point for 40 mana or so.
Distracting shot 3 is enough.
Enemy surveilance 4 is enough.
I would lower camo to lvl3, i find that lasting long enough for my needs, not fun being camo whole fight, right? :D
dirty fighting ... no damage + 30% = no damage ... ok maybe for combination with cold blood, but i wouldn't waste more than 1 point into that.
rapid shot ... not being to deal much damage without cold blood, i would go with lvl2 max. Dist shot - rapid shot - dirty fighting - ambush - cold blood = at least little bit damage for hunter for a while
^^ thats 7 points for something else.
As hunter, you should really get sudden strike to deal little bit more damage with normal hits, lvl1 is enough
Parabolic shot - get at least lvl1, temporarly switch to long bow and use it when enemy feels like running away :D
Get mobility, very good for running from barb with um+spring. You could do quite good without it with straifing + ensnare spam, but some extra speed can be usefull if more than 1 barb is chasing
If you plan hunting alone, you could consider taking stunning fist as the only one CC spell with damage, thus getting thru DI and you can cast it during confuse. Not good spell for fort wars though as you get near zerg, you dead.
