In place of making game better / more interesting / playable, they make it looking better killing in the same time whole game.

I bet they will have 2x more players if it would be playable for old PC's like first WoW , Diablo, Quake, The Settlers. Now ppl don't care something is shit if it have nice paper covering it.

Compare fixed pipeline (or whatever it is called) to shader 2 / 3. Shouldnt it have more fps, be playable for everyone?
