They're here! - Introducing the Lamai!

Little was known of this fabled race until their massive resurgence in Regnum. Their name appears scrabbled in ancient tomes of wisdom and old broken statues are testament of their previous visits, but they had been absent from this world for millennia.

Now Lamai are back in force, coming into Regnum through magic portals sprouting in all three realms. Their elders tell the tale of how they lived in a peaceful realm in a pocket dimension, but had to relocate because of their growing numbers. However, their young whisper about an unspeakable evil that drove them out.

Unwilling to divulge any more, Lamai have adapted to life in Regnum, each swearing fealty to the realm they landed on. Their cuddly exterior hides the tough interior of a most versatile race, capable of excelling in any class they put their mind to.

Whatever drove them out of their former home must have been a powerful thing indeed...

First up, those things are creepy. Kind of like a cross between somebody's pet chiwawa and ET. But, as they say beauty is in the eye of the beholder.

If they do anything like having a premium race, it would be surprising. But then, it is premium, sort of. They will have you level the Lamai up using the scrolls and whatnot. When they have creamed enough off that, simply open the race change scroll for the win some time later on. From a business point of view , I can't fault them.

With this race not being exceptionally beautiful (in my opinion of course), they better have some good initial attributes. In other words, they better be packing where it counts.

Personally, I like these hideous yet adorable things.
Apart from the Utghars, there aren't any races that are unique. Elves and dwarves are common in many MMOs, and moloks are just slightly bigger humans with tattoos.

I like that these races have a back-story; I hope that new NPCs of this race will be allocated in each city, which tell us more about them. Some new quests would be nice, too.

I'm also curious about what drove them out of their home, and if it will come to Haven. "Unspeakable Evil" sounds like a fun boss to fight.

You're all wrong with your critics against NGD!!! They've spent a lot of developer hours for creating such awesome creatures as Lamai. Maybe it took about a month or more of hard work with modeling and creating character movement animations of new race.
New race Lamai obviously will help to solve such problems like:

1. WM Beacons and Horn imbalance
2. Positioning problems
3. Server crashes and lags
4. Balance between classes
5. 3 year old bugs
6. Level 60 extra points imbalance problems
7. <add your complaint here>

You just don't understand really... Lamai is more than a race. Their super magical powers will cause RO to rise up and all the community will be happy after new race comes up

I have a reasonably high level character in every class and do not wish to start over, however I do like the look of these new Lamai's. I would gladly pay the 19500 xim on all my chars but have no intention to start over as do alot of people. So making it available via race change scrolls would be a wise choice in my honest opinion.

I think most people that already have a lvl 60 Character won't spend a penny on that, just like me. I will grind one for my Lock, but I won't boost it up. I'll just play it for fun.

I don't underestimate the addiction of some of the player base. I have seen some do the incredible and roll 6 level 60's (before there was a lvl 60 mastery scroll!).

If you have a single level 60 already, some players may be encouraged to roll another level 60 via mastery scroll. NGD did not mention stopping you getting a max level Lamai via this route. Others who have no level 60 or maybe have only 1 or 2 characters may be encouraged to roll a third. This could be a Lamai .
But, I think those initial attributes will be a factor to what we eventually get out there.
Eventually, this revenue momentum will wane and NGD will look for the next source of income because by that time the server should have a decent population of Lamai. At that point I see the race change scrolls opening up.

Maybe that is moderate in goat land. It took me over 30 days to get from 50 to 60 when I did my knight and I considered that heavy grinding. Yes I used boosters. To get a level 60 from level one on boosters in one week I consider to be rather compulsive/ obsessive grinding. In other words, unhealthy.

So , the word moderate is clearly perceptual.

As for the Lamai, I had a look and its nothing special. My only concern is the selection issues with the small size and they could be extremely irritating to target in a large crowd. Other than that , Yawn.
