Hi everyone!

We've modified the Karma reputation system here in the forum.

From now on, registrated users will only be able to spread positive reputation to other users, meanwhile negative reputation will only be spreadable for moderators and administrators.

This way, we avoid the misuse of this system that lately has been given, whether by personal issues between users, or by just anonymously insulting other members of the community.

In case any of you have some sort of personal problem with another user, you will have to handle this over the private messages system.

Best regards.

Or via positive karma. :sifflote:

I’ll miss puzzling about whether my gray karma was supposed to be negative or positive. Some of those messages… (Google produces better English. xD)

Pretty sure there are players who send green karma to other players just because they share the same opinions or are friends. Doesn't mean that positive karma should be removed because of the actions of the minority. While some negative karma is misused, I have never seen a player with a neutral/negative reputation who didn't deserve it.

In this system everybody will have green karma and won't face any consequences for creating offensive or pointless posts and threads. There isn't exactly a heavy administrator/moderator presence in English forums, so many negative posts will go unchecked.

At least allow players to leave neutral feedback. When players can leave feedback anonymously, it's when they can be the most honest. PMing someone to tell them that their post was mean and offensive can just cause problems on forums and in game.

Rather than remove negative karma, here are 2 other options.

Make it so a comment can only be added to green karma, not to red.

Or

Have karma with a comment automatically include the username of the person who sent it.

Maybe not perfect, but more effective than removing it entirely I'd think.

I don't really like the first one, wouldn't you want to know what the reason behind the red karma would be? A real argument or just someone trolling.

On the other hand the automatically sending the username of the person who gave you the karma would be a nice idea.

I'd rather karma remained anonymous. If a player received red karma for a negative post, they may retaliate and send red karma back, purely for revenge. It would make players shy away from sending red karma.

Sorry, that’s just pathetic. Have the guts to say what you want, or don’t say it.

I agree that seeing the name just makes pathetic people give red karma in return, so red karma should either be removed entirely (like it is now, I like it) or made without message attached to it. Which would kind of defeat the purpose it is for, so I understand and support the decision that has been made.

If this was merely a discussion forum, I'd agree. But it's a very small MMO full of vindictive players, and angering the wrong person will make gameplay and trading more difficult for you.

Anyway, I really think neutral karma should remain. It's an easy way to provide feedback and it doesn't impact the player's reputation. There will, of course, be some offensive and stupid comments, but if a player can't handle receiving them then they shouldn't be on the internet, let alone a forum.

The problem with negative rep was that players used it not only to verbaly attack people from forum, but also to get their "revenge" from the game.
This is a good step imo. I don't have a problem with it.

New system is fine. Quite often a red Karma is like a text message and is so short that the context or even the message can be misunderstood rather easily. Most red karma (at least the ones I got) are attacks on personality rather than the topic. It is very rare to get a constructive red karma. Heck I even got one red karma in Spanish !

Personally I never felt the strong enough urge to give anyone a red Karma for their opinion much less to PM them over a matter. Folks take this game (and their posturing) way too seriously sometimes. If it goes I won't miss it because I never had to use it. What I feel I need to write is usually tame enough to be posted in the threads themselves.

Unfortunately, because we share the forum with the Spanish (and other users) and because we don't have enough resident posters here, the "need to spread more rep around" is kinda broken. That can't be fixed though without breaking things on the Spanish forum.

If you feel that a post or poster is offensive then you can report the post to a Moderator who will decide on the next course of action. That seems fair to me.

I don't understand really...

The biggest issue in the Karma system is that the author of them aren't shown thus allowing them to insult/bash/whatever for wrong reasons without consequences.

The best thing to do was to show the usernames so people would think twice before sending non-justified red karmas, not this...

Negative criticism is needed.

LMAO I just got a karma for my previous post here. Its grey but I rather suspect that the giver had a red in mind. too bad they switched that off . You mad bro?

The message was so nebulous that I really don't know. Proves my point really.

The karma system is a joke really and retains no value whatsoever.
Mostly I receive green karma for making someone laugh, and red karma merely because the person isn't particularly fond of me. These don't strike me as being the intended reasons for giving someone karma in any form.

Well my last Grey (most likely supposed to be red) Karma was tagged "stfu ugly n00b."

I rest my case, the system is pointless :P

As others told allrady ,karma system is just a system to show you how much community is agree with ya or not.

This not means red/green karma is a fair system at all.
For example if 10 people that play a certain class and you are not agree with a spell from that class, 10 people will give you red karma. This not means at all that red karma was a fair one.

I don't understand frustation of removing red karma at all too, anyway people that begin to troll around have been havy banned. At least in last months more have been banned than i saw in last 4 years.

I realy don't care if karma system is complete removed.People just take this system as how cool are they on the community or not, some kind of personal ranking.
