Hi everyone!

We're glad to tell you that we've opened Amun to the public.

This time, we'll be testing out a new version of the game that includes a complete revamp of the graphics engine.

This basically means that you'll notice graphical enhancements in-game, that'll allow you to have an overall visual improvement. Besides, this will include new graphical options for you to freely change.

On top of this, with the game options configured fine enough, it's quite possible that you'll notice an improvement on the game's performance, but in order to determine this, it's important that you test several times.

Since it's a preliminary version, bugs and errors may show up, which is why we expect to receive a lot of feedback from the community.
Please keep in mind that in every report you do, attach info about technical specs you're running the game on, so we can track down the issue a lot more quicker, and come up with a solution as fast as we can.

NOTES:

1- Keep in mind that Haven's Shader 4.0 with max graphics is equal to the "Very High" option available in Amun.

This means that the "Ultra" setting goes even more further in graphical terms compared to the live server's capabilites, which is why you may detect a fps-drop when playing on that setting.

In order to compare correctly in terms of performance, please try to adjust all of the graphic settings in Amun so it looks the same as in the live server.

Fixed = Low
SM2 = Low
SM3 = Medium y High
SM4 = Very High

The "Ultra" setting is completely new, and it requires powerful hardware to run smoothly.

2- In this version, we worked a lot on "game freezes" you might have been experiencing on live servers when moving from one region of the map to another.
If you detect any kind of improvement, or you still have these kind of issues, please report it on this same thread specifying the exact place in the map your game froze for a few seconds (coordinates).

3- We have also been working really hard on game crashes. Anyway, since we're adding new graphical content, some crashes may exist. If you experience a game crash, please REPORT it by sending us the crash report the next time you enter the game again.

4- Remember that everytime you post your technical specs (Processor, OS, RAM, Graphics card) write down on which game graphic setting you were playing on (Low, Medium, High, Very High).

Ignis Cities: The Ignis Cities revamp has been uploaded to AMUN. Keep in mind that this is WORK IN PROGRESS, so it'll be pretty normal for you to encounter misplaced npc's, broken quests and bugs. Please DO NOT report any of this info, since we're aware of it, due to the nature of a work in progress. Any reports over this will be eliminated.

New Resurrection Altars: The "Saves" models have been revamped in AMUN. Besides, we've readded 2 more saves for each realm's warzone. Keep in mind that this MAY NOT be their final position. Complaints over this will be eliminated, however, suggestions are welcomed.

Realm Tasks: New gameplay content has been added, consisting on Realm Tasks. These Realm Tasks are basically different repeatable quests completable for any level, and they're activated by interacting with any of the tasks billboards spread around the realms. Keep in mind that both Task Objectives and Reward are preliminary, which is why complaints about these will be deleted.

My feedback from Amun:

Graphics engine is much slower than on the live servers.
I have up to 250-500 fps on the live servers with max. details (without vsync enabled). On Amun it's only 100-150 fps.
With vsync enabled it's not stable 60 fps at the new client, much more stable on the live servers.

The game starts only in 1024x768 with 16bit color depth (instead of 24bit).
When I set the resolution to 1280x960 the client doesn't restart properly.

"Antialiasing" and "Ambient Occlussion" is grayed out in the options.
I can't deactivate the shadows (still looking horrible on some rocks, etc. and much performance loss).

The face of Lamai characters are white and my Lamai character is not correctly imported (wrong eye color, wrong "skin" color).

PS: As usual the tattoos of Moloks and Uthgars are not displayed on Amun.

Processor: AMD Phenom II X4 955 @3.6GHz
4GB RAM
OS: Win7 Prof. x64

Absolutely no performance gain or worse...

Game changed my desktop resolution, even after quitting.

Everytime I login res gets defaulted back to 1280x720

The text that appears over the character when you chat seems fuzzy or blured for some reason.

Graphics Card: Ati hd3650 1gb (newest driver)
Processor: Intel Core2Duo T9300 @2.5GHz
4GB RAM
OS: Arch linux 64bit

Might be a potato of a PC but still within a span of 2 years fps has been cut in half with random game pauses and fps inconsistency (60fps now is 20 after walking literally 10m and back again) ... whilst i can play top tier crazy graphical games at a more stable pleasant fps...

Well.. Amun is always slower and has more lag then live servers..

Same here, I have to change it ingame everytime I logged in which is kinda annoying

Also for some reason, my FPS dropped around 10-15 but it might be because of the fact the game looks like Shadermodel 3.0 while I usually play on 2.0 . It says 2.0 when I start up but the graphics on amun really look like the graphics I have on Haven with shader 3.0 .

Could this be a bug ?

Well I accessed bit Amun and in my opinion, it really improved.

As in generally FPS remained the same. So as in FPS improvement I saw none.( I just ran a bit in the cities for now only.)

BUT, now I can access Fisgael and Raeraia again with Direct3D. Yes I have to put everything on low, also having about 10-18FPS in them but still it's still great.
For me it's like you have gotten me the FPS before the Lamai's came.

So far....thumbs up! :thumb:

At the moment it doesn't look or feel any better for me and everything's too sharp. But I understand it's just the first test. Also, big plus for fixing the dye (http://regnumonline.com.ar/forum/showthread.php?t=88861) bug.

I think i found a bug. When i see a Lamai / my own Lamai has often a white face .. :/


The resolution does not save themselves. After every restart I have to re-adjust them.

First thing I noticed was a deficiency in depth of colour, objects appeared blurry at times and colours seemed vaguely distorted and merged.
After fiddling around in the video settings, I've noticed anti-aliasing and ambient occlusion are greyed out. However, upon switching the v-sync off, ambient occlusion became available but I must say, it makes the game look awful and my fps takes a dive when using it.

I immediately put everything in the video options to max as I'm fairly confident my system can handle it and if I'm brutally honest, it looks inferior to the previous max settings on shader 4 but that may be due to colour issue mentioned above.
I'm quite happy with the v-sync - about time it was put in - I get a smooth 60 fps and I'm glad I don't have to set my GPU to force v-sync on everything.
Without v-sync I seem to have an increase in frames from my usual on the live server (anywhere from 80 in the new cities to 300 when idling out in the wilderness).

Specs as follows:
i5 2500.
GTX570.
16GB RAM.
Win7.

Nouveau+Gallium3D+libstxc_dtn (or whatever xD): Quality and FPS in Shader Model 2 got way better, thumbs up here.

I realized the number of polygons jump up and down when standing still - instead of a short range.

Shader model 4.0 wasn't working properly, especially with dyes, hiding armor, and things like tattoos. It all works flawlessly now. Good stuff.
Tattoos never worked on Amun. I think that the Amun character importer doesn't recognize Tattoos from live servers.

The test client doesn't want to restart on graphical changes, it shows me a CO12.

PS: VSync can be enabled at the live server's client too (vg_vertical_sync = 1 in game.cfg)

Seems nice so far. I don't know if I have any FPS improvements, I'd have to check, but from what I see, the game just looks nicer. Not massively different, but just... A bit nicer.

However my one wish / complaint is the view distance on terrain detail. To me it looks like you can only see it about 20m in front of you; and so you get loads of pop up... Constantly. I'd very, very, very much like for this to be increased (maybe up to view range) for the people with PCs powerful enough to handle it.


More ideas for graphic features:

- Motion Blur
- Stereoscopic Rendering
- DirectX 10 & 11 support

Try to edit test.cfg, there are several options available to modify using some deeper knowledge of configuration files. You can also experiment ;)

Othervise, my fps remained moreless the same 10-30 on lowest setting depending on situation, ill try again as I see the client was updated again.
Am I right when I assume that on the live servers the fps will be bit higher than on the experimental server? ;)

As I'm running on a low end notebook, I'd really love to be able to set lower texture loading radius (eg trees - they kill my performance for somewhat reason). Othervise, I do get around 30 fps while standing still and around 20 when moving. I couldn't test fort wars, because Amun doesn't have such feature due to low base of testing players.

My specs: Intel Core duo cpu T7500 (2.2GHZ]
4 gig RAM
Mobile intel 965 express chipset family graphics card (onboard ofc)
Windows 7, 64bit
Notebook - Dell Latitude D630

I did even change settings to the side of higher quality and less perfomance and got more FPS either way.

Just passing by to post what's already fixed on Amun thanks to the reports we've been receiving!:

-Fixed: Screen Resolution now it's correctly saved when modified in-game.
-Fixed: Creatures, characters and dynamic objects' load radius now it's correctly set.

-Modified: The "Ultra" video setting does not activate "Ambient Occlusion" and "FXAA" by default anymore.

-Fixed: Casting time on skills now displayed correctly.

Okay so here's my first impressions about it :

- The first time I entered and I immediately set the settings to the maximum, just like how I play in Live Servers, I get a sort of sphere in front of me that is reflecting and inverting a part of the scene :

- Very high setting broken (very sharp shadows, wrong colors, etc...)
- Antialiasing greyed out
- FXAA = black screen
- Less listed resolutions (where's my 1152*864 ? :()
- No "Ultra" option

So it looks like the High setting + everything maxed besides FXAA is the nearest setting I could get compared to the live server.
So the FPS are slightly higher than on live, but considering WITHOUT antialiasing and with a lower resolution (1024*768) so it might just be the same or worser...

Anyways I appreciate to see more fine-tuning options within the game itself instead of the launcher, and especially the VSync one, but concerning the engine there's still some ways to go yet.

OS : Archlinux 64-bit
GPU/Driver : Nvidia GT550 Ti / proprietary blob (latest)
RAM : 8GB DDR3
Usual game settings : Shaders 4.0 everything enabled/maxed besides trails.

The game is still slideshow. I didn't notice any engine optimization at all. Before we got the UI update thing I would have 20-30 FPS everywhere in warzone and inner realm, including cities.
After the UI update 10 FPS max, usually around 5, during war or in cities 2-5, only ocationaly it jumps to 10.
After seeing your roadmap and now this announcement, I was looking forward that my FPS would increase again. Well, it didn't. It's still the same. The game is just uplayable for me ever since the UI update.

Anyway, what I noticed: when the lowest setting is selected, it doesn't actually set fixed pipeline, it did set shader model 2. I had to edit test.cfg and set vg_max_current_shader_model to 0.

3GB DDR2
Intel GMA X3100, mesa 8.0.3

If only I could get 30FPS back, regnum was quite playable game with that.

DoT's jump down on mob health bars after DoT is over instead of dropping with each tick.
Having same problem as others with character blank and flickering in character window ingame.
Chat and log size not being saved and cant find the lock spellbar option.
Getting about 25-50% framerate improvement in general, some areas no improvement.

Ubuntu 10.04 64bit, nvidia 9800GTX, driver 195.36.24 from ubuntu repositories.

Nice you worked on this.

These game freezes still exist but are now much smoother on amun, nice job! :thumb:

But it needs big battles for a full test. Indeed those freezes terribly worsen when there are lots of players and active spells on screen.

Currently on live server, the worst location is at Aggersborg because there is a region border that cuts the fort in 2 parts, causing huge lags during big battles when moving between both regions.

Nice work on Amun. Keep up the great work.

Just a few little issues on my side.

Character selection screen appears all almost completely white/greyish and my character looks distorted.

Game freezes/Has FPS drops in the following coordinates so far and/or surrounding areas near Medenet. Game also has issues with sound enabled when around players or alone and causes freezes spikes in the client(Both on live and test server, doesn't matter location).

X=44xx Z= 20xx
X=45xx Z= 24xx

PC Specs on this machine:
Windows XP SP3
Graphic card: Sparkle Geforce 8600 512MB(PCI)
Ram: 2GB
Shader Model: 2.0

I've encountered only one problem of crashing when switching back to max settings the game crashes, but when i relog settings on full whack FXAA included i have 50 fps.

OS: win 7 64bit home premium
RAM: 4Gb DDr3
GPU: nVidia GTX 550 Ti
processor: Intel core i3 3.2 Ghz

I'd include screens but for some reason they arent saving or copying into anything will try to get some up soon

After further testing...

On a positive note :
- The uber-bright syrtis fort/castle/house walls at night issue under OpenGL seem to be resolved.
- Some areas that used to be very laggy (like alga beach, imperia, menirah...) seem to be smoother
- Water and waterfalls rendering seem to be better and smoother
- Very nice new teleport artifact model !

Negative :
- Terrain objects (like big rocks and some trees) appearing brutally and flickering when turning the camera

Again this needs to be confirmed when the highest settings/antialiasing are working back on OpenGL.

I hope some other issues like party join/leave or friendlist loading freezing the game are resolved, it's not really possible to test this on Amun.

On Amun i got better and higher graphics than on Haven and I'm getting twice as high FPS, and it seems to be running smoothly.
(Hasn't been tested in war/populated situations) dropped about 20 FPS in cities, still have more FPS than in Haven.

Sometimes crash when changing character or when applying graphical options.

Other than that, nothing yet.

Taking longer than ever for splash screen to come up, about 12sec, 7 sec in live client.

Very high quality setting gives blank screen, have to edit vg_max_current_shader_model in test.cfg, a 'do you accept these settings?' timeout would be useful.

In game character window is now showing character image (was blank square before) but is mostly semi transparent with skin areas fully transparent.

Character face beside health/mana bars not visible (not working on live client for me either)

Setting FXAA makes some textures pixilated, horizontal lines, borders of a few pixels width around bright/dark objects etc. (see screenshot)

Setting bloom freezes the screen on the last frame, unsetting it returns things to normal.

Switching to windowed with alt+return gives a black window, sometimes all is back to normal after switching back to fullscreen, sometimes there is nothing but a black screen with only cursor visable.

When restarting the game the last ingame image flashes briefly after the splash screen.

When switched from fullscreen to windowed right click and menu bar menus not visible for desktop apps (using desktop compositing).

Changes needing a restart give 'Server not available (C012)' error before the splash screen would normally come up.

2 sliders for shadow quality.

Good framerate improvement :)
No option to disable splash screen.

Check the rat beside the WM quest givers in mont, 25 for 250 wm coins, 1 for each enemy realm and anywhere on the map = approximately 2500 gankings per day for each realm. Not looking forward to this one.

As seen in attachements, I still have these weird glitches in the ground and on my self. It's even worse at bridges because I can't even see where they end.

Not sure if he meant it would be fixed this update, I sure hope it gets fixed soon. OpenGL and Direct3D are around 20fps difference for me, only OpenGL works as it should with me.

Do you use an ATi/AMD graphics card/chip? I have the same bug on my Laptop.

The new engine looks good but its requires a better graphics at ultra settings (45 fps currently) which I could say just sucks...

I fight with 120 fps and I sure can tell its impossible to fight with 45-60 fps while enjoying good graphics.

Hope you work something out. Not everyone has uber pcs.

I have arround 70-80FPS but the game stucks constantly. The game isn't playable.

My specs:
Athlon X3 OC @ 4GHz
4GB DDR3-1600 RAM
GTX460 (OC at a GTX560 (GPU:830/VRAM:2100MHz) / latest video driver)

The system runs stable.

I usually have 30 fps max on shader model 2 with a fail celeron laptop and I play just fine. The only problem is the crashing every 10 minutes. Any new of that being fixed on Amun?

As for Amun, it has been down and it didn't seem to respond. Today on the office we'll make it come back again from the dead so don't worry. :)

Eyes, yeah. This is very high rendering. (In fact I selected ultra settings and didn’t touch anything in the advanced options to see if this does anything, it doesn’t)

"Ultra" setting is not in the menu you're looking for, it's back in the Video options but not in the "Advanced" menu.

When we speak about "High, Very High, Ultra, etc" we talk about the general video quality setting, and not about the Render one found in the Advanced options.

Anyway, if you still want to find differences by changing the render quality from high to very high, try setting, for example, the water quality to max and change the render quality when you're next to a shore.

Of course it changes something with various effects enabled, what I wanted to demonstrate is that it just eats a lot of unnecessary fps, because it’s much slower even without any differences.

Diminishing returns at a guess. If you where playing on a display twice the size you would probably see a big difference but the card would have to work 4x harder. We could all be using 3840x2400 displays in a few years now Apple has upped resolutions with their new retina screens.

Finally on Amun Shader 4.0 works with my GPU (Radeon HD 6490 , second gpu... to build in intel's 3000), the one which was undetected for RO.

80-120 fps on good options without things like ground detail (not needed) or extra water

or you are having some weird driver problems.

36 seconds for character selection screen to come up after clicking 'enter game world', 12 for a full white screen and then 24 waiting for the splash to start. Game crashes with a SIGSEGV in the terminal while loading after character selection, approx 25% loaded.

EDIT: Crash during loading fixed
Still gives C012 server error when restarting game after changing graphics settings.
Still have black screen when switching from full to windowed with alt+return (need to restart game).
Bloom still causes graphics to freeze on last frame and continue as normal after de-selecting (settings window works as normal).
Character in ingame character window still semi transparent and face beside mana/health bars missing.
FXAA now working, slightly blurred but a big improvement.
Game hung at about 65-70% after character selection sometimes, thought it was settings at first but maybe just graphics loading, its sometimes hung for a few seconds since with no settings changed. Waited about 3 min first time it happened with no change.

Ubuntu 10.04 64bit.
Intel Q6600
Nvidia 9800GTX.
Driver 195.36.24 from ubuntu repositories.

Try deleting test.cfg and adding settings 1 by 1 and restarting, I was getting the same but couldn't track it down. Can't reproduce this any more so maybe its some internal housekeeping type stuff that's taking a long time the first few runs (something like this mentioned in a post of Frosk's). It still sometimes hangs for a few seconds at about 60-70% but doesn't freeze totally anymore here.

EDIT: Not much changed with this version here, loading seems to be very slightly quicker, loading after character selection seems smoother and FXAA seems less blurred otherwise same problems as earlier post. Didn't mention in earlier post, water looks wrong with any settings, looks like light and dark random patches on a flat surface.

Well after AMUN being down, I checked it again and I was able to get 75 fps for Ultra Settings. Its a great improvement from before. Hope you can enhance it better :)

On a side note, does the hard drive affect the game play performance in regnum? I currently have 50gbs left on my HD.

Lot of options greyed out, will delete test.cfg and start again.

With 'low' settings.
Drought hits RO, all the water is gone, we're all going to die!! Mont fountain has snowcrashed too, the surfaze is a changing fuzz of black and white pixels like a tv with no signal.
Alt+return working correctly.
Character face beside health/mana bars working.
Ingame character window a miniature version of the full screen.

Water visible with same flat and patchy quality as before.
Alt+return gives a black screen, restart needed.
Character face beside health/mana bars not working.
Ingame character window a miniature version of the full screen with only the character visible and semi transparent.

With 'High' settings:
Ingame character window correct size, still semi transparent.

With 'Very high' settings:
Screen freezes (menu still works), assuming due to bloom.

All settings to maximum except render quality and bloom working ok with 25-50 fps, 20-35 with live client.

32 seconds from clicking 'enter game world' to start of splash.
'Advanced' button on graphics settings should maybe change to 'Basic' to go back.
'Restart needed for changes' popup still comes up when clicking 'Apply' even if the settings needing a restart are changed back, need to exit settings window and re-open.
No 'lock spellbar' option.

Will stay with the outdated ubuntu 10.04 standard repository nvidia drivers for now unless asked to update, can change distro if needed, due an update anyway.

After a few restarts had an error immediately when starting the launcher, game process was still running in background, had to kill manually.

Anisotropic filter was on minimum (as it was when started changing settings), moved anisotropic filter to max and clicked apply, got restart popup and clicked accept, 'user already logged in' after this. Logged in again now, guessing that session timed out.

Lamai armour is only visible within about 50 meters, have the same issue on the live client.

A workaround could be to use smaller textures (and less AA, maybe bloom and stuff, too), and to hope you don’t use the broken vram parts then. Or to put your card into the oven and hope even more xD (It supposedly works quite well!)

Ignis Cities: The Ignis Cities revamp has been uploaded to AMUN. Keep in mind that this is WORK IN PROGRESS, so it'll be pretty normal for you to encounter misplaced npc's, broken quests and bugs. New Resurrection Altars: The "Saves" models have been revamped in AMUN. Besides, we've readded 2 more saves for each realm's warzone. Keep in mind that this MAY NOT be their final position. Complaints over this will be eliminated, however, suggestions are welcomed.

Realm Tasks: New gameplay content has been added, consisting on Realm Tasks. These Realm Tasks are basically different repeatable quests for any level, and they're activated by interacting with any of the tasks billboards spread around the realms. Keep in mind that both Task Objectives and Reward are preliminary, which is why complaints about these will be deleted.

Im using linux, turning on FXAA does not give me black screen anymore, except sometimes when i turn on camera around.

Inside the church at Medenet is too dark. Can't see much anything there. http://i.imgur.com/tiI5w.jpg Also enabling FXAA makes those torches blink, in fact my whole screen goes red-green-normal. Epilepsy alert!

Shadows are also broken.
It seems gems got new pedestals, at least yellow gem do.

My fps is a bit higher than on Haven, at desert it can go up to 100 on amun when all settings maxed, though right now at Altaruk I got only 29 fps :/

New cities look awesome, nice job!
Overall, I am really waiting for this update but before it just hope those few things get fixed.

BTW, anyone managed yet to find any realm task billboard?

Found the realm billboards. They should be at the realm gate of every realm, I like what i see, everytime you click you find a new randomnly generated task (get 30 of a certain loot item, like tiger gem eyes, kill 236 alsius players etc). Just make sure you make the RvR quests give more exp than the loot/mob killing quests, I think this could get more lower levels to participate in the war. (You can only have 1 task at a time btw). Not sure if you can only complete 1 per day or not, but too lazy to actually complete one haha.

Great job on the cities and the 3 saves.

Alt+return seems to be working better now, windowed is still all black but most of the time it returns to fullscreen correctly, didn't work after changing character in 1 test though (all black fullscreen). Character face beside health/mana bars was working correctly once too, no idea what caused it to work, was after some duals and reskilling though. Crashed several times when attacking/being attacked by mobs (mainly ghosts) but others crashed at the same time. Could accept quests from enemy realms billboards. Nice graphics tweaks :)

The revamped space around the new central safe in Ignis NO ME GUSTA (I do not know why this was even changed), I hope there will be something done about it.

bug: if you are binding yourself to Shaanarid safe mounted, you cannot move afterwards: you have to unmount then.
bug?: "custom" is missing in the video options.

Concerning the new towns: I´d say that the dye of the houses could be a bit darker, just like Samal. But generally speaking, I like them!

The shadows still produce a strong visible moiré effect, it moves when I change the position of my character or move the "camera". It's visible at all shadow modes.

It looks like there is something wrong with the shadow calculation or blend mode or simply a wrong game configuration. I think that this is a problem of Regnum. I don't have this effect at other games.

I don't have much to say about the graphics and I defer that to the experts.
All I am concerned about is smoothness, more granular post process control and FPS that maintains at 60 and above with the hardware I have.

I got all 3 so I am good. All that remains is to see how it goes with a lot of characters on the screen.

Ignis inner realm cities are fantastic. Good job . In Altaruk, some structures seem choked but allows for a gauntlet type zone for armies approaching the Noble. Noble will not be easy to do if there is resistance.
FPS seems good in most cities (did not check Meleketi). Medenet looks very nice, Church is nice. I am glad you placed the Knight trainer in there. Hope it stays there.

As for the bulletin board and random tasks, I like the principle. I won't harp on the details of tasks as it was mentioned quite clearly that those tasks are place-holders and will be refined later on.

New saves look nice. No problem with Ignis Central save. Would be nice if there was a tiny water feature. Not really necessary though.
Shannarid Save is roughly the same place as it was. Seems fine. I am not convinced it should be enclosed and sunken like that though.
I am not sure what the plan is with the Secondary fort saves. They seem rather too close and I suggest that they be set further back. The one especially at Menirah is quite close. In range of marks I suspect. It remains to be seen if that one stays capturable with the fort. It won't make sense in the context of 3 saves but we shall see what you come up with.

I recorded video on amun to show how shadows bug for me and how it generally looks like for me. You maybe know them already but I dont think making sure and post it here can do any harm.

This may get kinda off topic but it is now anyway in same video with shadow bugs. I have seen few goats and pigs using this "feature" (or is it bug) what I shown on video. I personally think it should not be allowed to do that. If you cant enter efe normal way, you just ride behind/close to its wall on other side and relog. After relog you are on efe bridge with resurrection sanctuary so you can safely step inside. Such "feature" at efe is imo unfair as it is not possible to do at shaana. Havent tested imperia.

Video also show how bugged shadows are, but you maybe are already aware of it. I hope though you do something for that dragon portal, it looks uber ugly. Just some random blue cube at middle of nowhere.

One another small problem I noticed is that when I am on character selection screen and click "PLAY" my game freezes for some seconds. You can also that see on the video.

Realm Task feature got much potential imo. I would like to see more war task than just kill 700 lions, because that surely is boring task. Tasks could be something as example "steal supplies from aggersborg fort"(requires you to go capture fort), "Defeat Sigfrid(ignis guardian hero if i remember right)", etc etc. There also could be some story why to do that instead just saying "The realm ask to do thing x". Give also some gold as reward. I know some people have barely enough gold for repairing their equipment. Or if we think even further, reward from doing realm task could be some new currency with what you could buy something special, dunno. Speaking as syrtian, there could be also some special orders from our noble Ancalimon. So many possibilities what all kind of stuff can come up with this feature :P
I just really would love to have tasks that are somehow related to regnum's background story.


And one last thing... While you now are playing with your graphics engine, could you also fix the wheat bug? I made you also video about it in case you dont know what I am talking about.

Look, at first seconds it look normal. Then I turn around my character/camera and wheat goes totally black. Turn a bit again and its again normal, then turn again and black. You know what I mean. On the background is NPC called "Kale". When I click him, the wheat turns green. When i de-select him wheat goes back to black. Click him gain and it goes green again. Cycle continues.
This is not so high priority issue I know, but same wheat is bugged at initiation island Ulren Asir's windmill. It just does not look good for new players :P This bug is on both Amun and Live servers. I am using linux, so also openGL and shadermodel 4. All settings maxed.

Hope my long message get noticed :S

Give also some gold as reward. I know some people have barely enough gold for repairing their equipment.
+1 to that, maybe some quests awarding only gold as part of the random feature.

Upgraded to Ubuntu 12.04 64 bit with nvidia driver 295.40 and getting crashes from weapon trails now, only stuck with the old driver so I could see where I was getting hit from because not knowing is a big dissadvantage. Most other problems I was having with old driver on amun are fixed with the new one but the in game character window still shows the character semi transparent with the skin areas missing.

The shadows still produce a strong visible moiré effect, it moves when I change the position of my character or move the "camera". It's visible at all shadow modes.

It looks like there is something wrong with the shadow calculation or blend mode or simply a wrong game configuration. I think that this is a problem of Regnum. I don't have this effect at other games.

PS: I don't have a "Ultra" preset in the graphics config. There are only 4 presets.

The new Ignis cities and villages looks great.

The only thing is: I think the guards in Altaruk are too close to the noble called Daracan (for the 10K WMC quest). That's a problem for smaller servers.
It looks like an open arena there Daracan is located, it's an advantage for marksmen, but a disadvantage for barbs.

Compared to Syrtis and Alsius it is bad, the building there noble is.

Atm zerg of barbs go to noble town and nobody can kill them. Every realm had chance to attack them, except Ignis. Give us some defence, like it is atm :)

When we will get final version of it? Ignis towns are well made and a bit decreases fps only. Just change positions of NPCs, fix Realm Tasks and lift off.
Just make higher hill near knight trainer and Nubop in Altaruk.

The positioning of the general in Altaruk needs to be revised, too close to noble its not going to be fair for other realms doing the noble quest. Ignis cities looks nice :thumb:

I got better idea, move General of other realms closer to noble then :D

I don't know what you guys did, but the game looks so beautiful and my fps went up despite higher graphical settings. Wow! I didn't even know this game can look this good. AWESOME job!! I can't wait for this to go live and to war in these graphics. Keep tweaking it to make it even better!!! xD

Are very high shader settings ready for testing on linux yet? Looking very nice but shadows and draw distances are all over the place and shades/brightness changes with camera rotation. Snow on pine trees only becomes visible from about 100m, turns black with white edges at about 50m and completely black at about 25m. Ingame character window still has semi transparent character with blank skin areas and water looks wrong, light and dark patches on a flat plane. FPS takes a huge drop on very high shader settings here to, around 20fps from around 60fps on high shader setting with all other settings enabled and/or maximised except antialiasing which I can't adjust.

RAID 5
Nvidia 9800GTX+
Driver 295.40

Character previews (in the character window or in visual customizations) are broken.

I stand next to someone who rides a bear and this character goes transparent, when I zoom in - I only see the bear. Zoomed out and the character is back, normal opaque.

Ambient Occlusion Effect is too strong. The halo of the sun (light ring around the sun) is misplaced, that only happens on special cases; see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halo_%28optical_phenomenon%29

Please re-enable normal Anti-Aliasing, because FXAA is a post processing filter, it blurs all contrast changes. That doesn't remove the Aliasing effect, it only make it less visible (especially on fine thin lines).

PS: Please upload the shadow fix to Amun before upgrading it to the live servers (for testing).

PPS: Realm tasks brings much exp, for example talking to 2 NPCs.

I love the new save pillars!!!

There is a bug with the character screen in game (spot showing what items you are wearing). Your character is off screen super large.

Their final position hasn't been defined yet; so they may not end up where they are now in Amun.

That's an ooold bug.

Workaround: when you speak with the Arena guardian and countdown starts, jump on the ledge and wait until you are teleported inside.
Or: when countdown starts, run to opposite direction of the arena until you'r teleported (you need to lose sight with other players in arena).

Is this issue fixed on Amun now (with the last update)? Because I still have this issue, it's much better in near range, but still there in mid and far range.

I tested the new client at Ubuntu Linux 12.04 TLS x64.
There are no shader effects. In the log stands: "libs/libglslang.so: cannot open shared object file: No such file or directory".

It basically says that due to the hard work that represents the development of a new engine, and in order to bring you guys a fine finished work, we'll have to delay the update for the first week of August.

In terms of productivity, this helps us all since we can fix issues now that we're onto this, instead of later where we'll be designing and developing other stages of the roadmap.

Even though we want to apologize for this, we also have to admit that we're really thankful for all the feedback and the support we've been receiving from both english and spanish communities :)
