Noone gets an invite despite enough players queueing confirmed across the realms.
Please look into it, theres quite a crowd of players looking forward to try them on live!

Not exactly on the same point but still relevant to lower population servers, I would suggest making it possible for matches with smaller teams (say, 4) since we don't always have tons of people trying to join bz's like Ra probably does.
Unless that's already possible. In which case, carry on.

When deathmatches worked, I got in a fight where our team had 5 full support conjurers and another team had 4 marks. Not to mention a few fights where I had to fight against a team with 6 barbs. Fun!
Fights will never be fair unless there's also restrictions on the class amount. And even then...

This is a major issue, basically the CoR defining new feature is broken for the not-so-loved minor servers.

CTF works properly on Ra, I've tried it. Ra is their priority I guess since it's the big daddy server.

Here we go again, another 2-hour boost on Haven and no instances to have fun in. Why didn't you mention in the changelog that TDM and CTF are for your pet server only? :facepalm3:

I am glad that they can make things work. I was really happy seeing all these changes on Amun, and they mostly worked before they put it to live. Altough I like the new battlezones and obviously, NGD improving with their knowledge (and not putting half-finished things to live), it's a bit sad that we can't enjoy these features on Haven, Piranha and Valhalla.
To sum it up: Great job NGD, but please, don't ignore all the other servers.

It is possible, that we aren't reaching the minimum numbers, but I would say, it's quite improbable - there would be at least few games right after the update went live. Also, some players have been trying to organise deathmatch by putting banners in all three realms - still no success.
Modifying the requirements on lower populated servers would be a good step :).

There never was a problem getting in TDM queue on Haven before the update that went live 28/12/2012...
After the latest hotfixes practically every high level from *every* realm on Haven went into TDM queue. This was coordinated through FB. I am 99.999% sure we had alot more than 8 from every realm... yet nobody got any match!
Haven't you got logs that could shed some light on this?

Why not making a window in which one I can see who's searching a group and who's playing at this moment? There I can watch other fighting teams, I can choose friends to play with in a battlezone and I can play with random players in a battlezone?
2) Arenas
Same thing here: Give us such a window. So everybody can watch the fighting guys and everybody can see who wants to fight.

no!!! That's not the problem! There must be something wrong about the system of instance joining.
I mean - NOBODY managed to join an instance since the last update EVEN ONCE. (haven/valhalla). Millions of players want to join the instance every evening and wait million hours, but nothing happens.

I've tried for several hours today to join a instance - no luck. I didn't hear any match going on since the first CoR update, when the matches were working for few days (weeks?).
The "looking for opponents" message is all I can get.
Note, the arena is working for me.

Correction, it doesn't work on Nemon either. Ra seems to be the only server where it works.

I want you to think about how many people joined a battlezone match upon CoR release, the very day everyone logged on and I'm sure 8/10 players clicked that first.
Stop telling yourself it's a population issue, because I'm sure there was enough players during the day of release for it to open.

I can see why they'd think it's a population issue though... Ra and Haven should be exactly the same, except for the population. It doesn't make much sense for it to work on one and not the other.
The only explanation I can think of is that the bug is such that not everyone is prevented from joining, just a portion of them. Ra would be the only server with enough requests to still open battlezone instances even after a large number of requests to join are bugged out.

not sure about it, these instances run on a different server iirc. The matchmaking aswell as the invite into an instance requires some sort of response from the instance server to the specific world server, which might be bugged for all beside RA.
The queueing is probably working correct, which should be similar as on RA, the acknowledgement message for a reserved instance, the invite, is probably bugged and server specific.

I think enio hit it on the head there that the problem is a loss of data between the instance server and the other servers apart from Ra or that they're just not connected at all

There are hundereds of bugs reported over the years on this forum, but I can say that just a small percent of it has been fixed. NGD is more bug factory than developer team.
And this erratic game releases with new major features brings more bugs than actual fun.

the code is the same for RA and the rest of the servers. the instances are running on the same machines.
About the bugs:
We have arranged with our partners that we will use the first quarter of the year to work on bug fixing.
we have one new programmer working only on bugs right now. I hope we can nail most of them.

This is because there is a general consensus that it is broken on Haven and many players stopped/gave up queueing :/
A little notice on the server asking lvl55+ to queue for TeamDeathMatch shouldve shown that it is not a population issue..

Uhh, if you told us this was how you were going to "look into it", we would have queued up... :facepalm3:
But at the moment, nobody has faith that it works anymore. Most only queue up whenever there is a new hotfix, or when it is coordinated with other realms via facebook or similar.
Please make an announcement (on prime time) as Enio suggests, preferably tell on the forum or something in advance, and I am sure we could get 24 people in queue.
Those 5 people were probably me, Enio, and dunno who were the remaining 3. Must be crazy people. :D

Said it before, but don't know if this might help:
On 28.12.2012 there was a hotfix, not sure exactly what it was for, but after this we got some weird matches on Haven. Instead of 8vs8vs8, it was 2vs2vs2 or even 1vs2vs2.
The next day, nobody could get a match at all..
Before the hotfix on 28.12.2012 we could play TDM all day long... On prime time usual waiting time was 20-40 minutes, which suggests we had enough people to fill 1-2 matches. Most of these players were level 60, I were lvl 58 at the time and most of the time the lowest... Some times though there would be one lower level (42-50) player on one team.
To go from this to a "population problem" in just a day seems very far stretched... And that there was some odd matches just before it all ground to a halt, makes people think there is a bug.
Could it be that the version that was put up on 28.12.2012 somehow requires alot more than 24 people in queue, to start a match? And that Ra is the only server with enough playerbase on to fulfill this, therefore ignoring this limitation?

ofcourse nobody is in the queque on normal days if its not working since ages, you cant go out of queque nor move the friggin box, so its only annoying.
Im pretty sure however that atleast 8 people per realm signed up right after updates.

On valentines day alone 5 people from my clan all 60 were queueing to get in all the time, that's just from 1 clan alone. I knew 4 other people who were also trying for sure at the same time. That's 9 just from some people I knew that day in alsius. I'm sure there were at least 20 people queueing in Alsius that day. Everyone was trying it. Yesterday I doubt anyone was trying anymore after it's not working for a week. I have stopped trying too and usually last week the first thing I did when logging in was hitting team deathmatch and seeing the match in progress for hours. That's why it shows no one is in queue anymore.
On the bug note, awesome!!! Please fix the weapon is pulled out, but is still on your back and no attack animation is shown and the huge drop in fps bug when people go underground after tele etc. :p

exactly my thoughts
Maybe some problems occur when one of those who want to join the instance goes offline.. :/
Note: Valhalla just managed to accomplish the first deathmatch battle since instances have been introduced. It was brought off by arrangement, it must have been far more than 24 60ers

Buuuut:
1) How it works
It was hard to find 8 chars who wanna try it out, I think that's the problem. Everybody thinks ''oh, it won't work, so i won't try''. ... Give us a window where everybody can see who's waiting for a game. Then this problem wouldn't be there.
2) Bugs
Map: Team Deathmatch.
I think the spawnpoint is a nice idea. No guards and no chance to instant kill the ''deaths''. But: There is a slope at the end of the spawn point. This is a little bit tricky: With the right jumping moves, characters can go to the spawn point aand with the wrong jump spawning characters are getting the falling damage.
Me, as a warlock, couldn't wear: amulet of evedim, rings of evedim, my warlock hat level 60, my brackelets level 60 ... Don't know why.
3) Implementation
The Spawn point is nice.
The Balance into the battlezones is rly horrible: Barbarians and conjurers are the classes to win! Please, NGD, do something!!
without the missing balance it's realy nice made. Fair 8 vs. 8 vs. 8 Teamfights, love this!
Without a healer it's impossible to win. We had seen this because one of our team - our conjurer - was afk. ... At the end of the battle, she came back. Then we almost won the game.
Thx for the nice idea, NGD, but please do something against the horrible balance AND against the big waiting problem (suggestion: look above)!
(Yeah, I know my english is terrible ... but it's ok, i'm a german valhalla player :angel1:)

That's what it looks like to me.
1. Afaik that weird darkness does not only appear in battlezones but under some special hardware conditions. (I seldom use my computer for playing... it's intel core 2quad cpu, 2.50 ghz, 3 gb ram, win vista home 32. edit: gpu nvidia gforce g100, lowest graphic settings (no secure mode))
2. The caption says "ItamigetötetRebell Martinez". Translated into English, it would be something like that: "ItamislainRebel Martinez". Firstly, the word "killed" is both participle and past tense and secondly, whoever is responsible for German translations, he is doing an absolutely awful job.
3. No spawn protection in Ctf-battles.
4. Weird joining circumstances, see this whole thread for more.

When this patch go out it contained Steam libs next to the RO binaries. They was removed after. I think this is the main reason they want to do the bugfixing. Steam can do good player boost, but game needs to be more friendly and bug-free.

Pls dont remove the lvl filtering it will just couse more unbalanced fights imho.
On barb i hit mages hard as is, i dont want to 1 hit kill newbies :/

Guess I got a reason to play RO again :).
Finally i was able to test TDM yesterday night, here is few comments about it.
8 vs 8 vs 8 is far too much for Haven
It should be reduced to 6 vs 6 vs 6 on "small" servers
Score should be more visible during match
Most matches ended with "who won ?" and "what was the score ?", something wrong here
It makes even more obvious barbarians OPness, no surprise here.
3 conjs + 5 barbs = winners, those are unbeatable on such terrain.
It should be called Random Team Death Match...
While it isn't bad, i would like a "Party Team Death Match" where parties are queued for DM (instead of individual characters), a "TDM party" would be somehow like a normal party, but just for TDM.
A ready-to-fight party could be anything between 2 and 8 players, free levels (+/- 5), when it is ready it is added to a list where only level and class appear (ie. barbarian 60, knight 58, conjurer 55), any other party with similar mean level can accept the fight, and when 3 (one per realm) are ready, TDM begins
Some spells aren't working in battle zones, list which ones and why.
More battle zones types are needed, some with different terrains, and an extented TDM mode could be a fight on 4 random terrains (ie. 2 mins on each terrain).

So, we finally got some matches on Haven! This was great, and they still are as fun and addictive as I remembered them...
However, there clearly is some bug with the matchmaking function. At one time for example, Alsius got only 6 players into TDM. Yet I and another person were also in queue since before it started, and stayed in queue for the entire match. But the team had to play with just 6 even though there was definitely at least 8 in queue!
For the uninitiated it could look as if the bug we reported 2 months ago was not looked into, that if players log off while waiting for TDM match, they will still clog up a spot in the queue & match.
Also, can you please fix that waiting message? It drives me bananas.

I can only agree that these battlezones really highlight the current imbalance of totally out-of-whack barbarian damage. Which needs to be adressed not only for BZ but the entire game.
And the current Team Death Match map where every point on the map is a choke point, really makes the issue worse... What happened to the old one? I liked that much better.
There needs to be some algorithm to even the forces between teams. Put every character subclass coefficient. Put every player a coefficient. Well this can not always give good results, but still can be better.

If you're asking for class balance in the matches, dont forget to add a coeffectient for gear, level on class (matters more on different) classes etc...
I think its impossible to reach class balance on matches in a small server such as haven, its better to balance classes instead of the problems caused by it. Such unneeded difficult to calculate systems are like pumping water out of a boat before fixing the leak.

Only downloading the resources for tdm at 20-40 kbps when i can download everything else at at least 200 kbps usually 1+ mbps when its not something downloading RO...
However, there clearly is some bug with the matchmaking function. At one time for example, Alsius got only 6 players into TDM. Yet I and another person were also in queue since before it started, and stayed in queue for the entire match. But the team had to play with just 6 even though there was definitely at least 8 in queue!
It just happened to us (Syrtis/Haven), whole TDM with 7, something is bugged (what a surprise...) ;)
