Hahahahaha.

You've been smoking too much Demon Monger son. If they would want to reduce the population they would go for Asia. South America doesn't have shit on the USA. Put the tinfoil hat back in the closet.

The climate is changing you dumb fuck. We're entering another ice age as is the natural course of our planet.

Actually, we were indeed trending to an new ice age over the last several centuries, as had been the cycle of things for 10's of millions of years. Now, human activities' cumulative effect on the composition of the earth's atmosphere (more particulate matter creating more cloud cover & an albedo sunlight reflection effect by day, but also a thermal blanket by night + the highest % of carbon dioxide, another insulating thermal blanket, that has ever been measured & is likely higher than it's ever been in 10's of millions of years) has offset & at least temporarily derailed that trend. We ARE getting warmer. The data PROVES it. Sadly, each additional degree of warmer temperature differential will effectively double the amount of storm damage done & the costs involved. Anyone else see that monster storm in the north Atlantic over the Easter weekend? It's heart was a unnamed cat. 3 hurricane (unnamed 'cause hurricanes supposed don't exist in the n. atlantic) & it stretched from Canada to Europe in width, over 3000 miles across. Oh, but climate change & global warming is all just alamist propaganda backed by those 98%+ of climatologists NOT on the payroll of big industry & we should never ask these corporations to clean up their act or to not pocket ALL available profits by eliminating all rules restricting them, all costs & cutting that nasty overhead, oh no. The REAL polluters here are all those scientists; they're just jealous & have it in for their betters at those businesses who have most of the human world's money & power. That's the REAL truth, no warming here, oh no, no ... (Can u say BULLSHIT!). Hope all those who're being effected struggle thru this somehow & also what's yet to come, 'cause nothing will change but our weather, & that for the worse. Y?! Money talks, bullshit walks....:rale:

...

Yep, this is quite a "hot" topic in science & politics.
The only thing, that's proved is, that the Earth is slightly warming up, for the last few decades. It is also fair to say, that human activity increases the conc. of CO2 (and other greenhouse gasses) in the atmosphere.
As a result of this, the worldwide weather might be more extreme - colder winters, hotter summers, windier winds, etc.. :)

However, it is not known, whether this process just leads to another Ice age (although, there are data supporting it), and human activity just sped things up a bit, or whether we introduced a positive feedback loop.

Scientists (and other, "not-scientific" people) argue all around the world. Both sides have data agreeing with their theory, and both sides have certain "gaps" in them.

Since the data about the worlds climate haven't been recorded sufficiently far in the past, it's difficult to predict, what will happen next.

Personally, I find the "next ice-age" theory the most probable, since it makes sense. I do not however excuse human activity of being "righteous" or having no impact.

We think we know so much yet we know so little, mainly because we can't accurately see what happened 10,000, 100,000 or 1,000,000 years ago. There could be a cycle that is still in motion, there could be no cycle at all. I laugh at the scientists that would think they have the mysteries of the earth solved, even more at the idiots that award them applause for their bullshit findings that are only stringed together by more theories. There are numerous areas that we have yet to cover, so much that the human mind cannot even begin to comprehend. A volcano could erupt 10 minutes from now and engulf half the world in ash and our "great" scientists wouldn't know shit.

Sadly exploration in science has more or less died, and instead we tend to base everything now on theories. We invest in bullshit experiments like the LHC, when we could be learning more wonders from the depths of the earth by funding projects like what the Russians did with the Kola Borehole. I admire modern entrepreneurs like Eric Anderson for being part of the few people willing to take matters into their own hands.

I'm from Buenos Aires, some neighbourhoods suffered more than others. Where I live, luckily, there were almost no consequences of the storm (the government [which I'm not very fond of] recently re-built a tunnelled river that runs under the city, so that helped a lot). And this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5rcGxXJ-teg is in the vicinity of NGD's headquarters (I think ~10 blocks); the footage is from another huge storm some years ago, but as the infraestructure hasn't been changed or revamped over there, almost the same thing must have happened on that area yesterday. Still, only they can tell how much has this storm affected them. Hopefully they are alright.

the rest of us is fine.

Afaik, this is what's going to happen.

Due to the melting water of the land ice of Greenland and the mountains glaciers, the salt concentration in the sea water is dropping.
The salt is needed to keep the sea-currents going.
So when the concentration of salt is low, the currents stop and the entire world climate will be affected, slinging us into a new ice-age.
At first the CO2 produced by human activity will prevent this from happening but in the end, when the oil has ran out for example, it will happen.

The only question is when it will happen

It happened before, when the last big ice-age was finished there was so much ice melting from the ice caps in europe and america that the salt concentration fell, causing another 5000 (i think) year of snow, ice and bitter cold.

Also: i read somewhere that the rising of the sea is bullshit, it takes more ice then there is on earth to rise the sea to dangerous levels, the ocean is to vast for that.

.

I'm from Canada so it will just be a normal day here for us. And if there is global warming hopefully it will give me a more tropical weather climate up here one day :p

On topic, hope everyone there is fine.

I wish NGD the best in this disaster. We may not always see eye to eye, but that doesn't mean we don't care about you guys.
