I've returned to the game recently in the last few weeks for an hour or two per day... mostly logging in at these times.
Let me tell you... its not great for either side. I see maybe 3-4 ppl in my friends list of 400+, and neither side can get kills because Ignis have too many and venture too far from the fort to kill the few Alsius who are chatting and drinkiing beers on the road, and Alsius have not enough to go to the fort. The Warmaster quest change is lame, but.. until something is done about Ignis's overpopulation at night (since a year+), changing it back would be worse. P.S. The main reason this is happening now is because Ignis spent many months level 4'ing forts immediately with full intent to invade. So honestly, you can't blame other players now for your actions. If you really wanted to always fight and not get gems, wishes, and WM, you wouldn't go "full power" immediately after taking Agg or Imp. Because of this most players who logged in at these times have stopped playing the game entirely, as the stress also caused them to fight amongst themselves constantly. It's just a long chain of events that caused massive amounst of in-fighting, fractured clans, poor morale, destructive actions like the strike and mass abandonment. The simple fact is: Ignis players only care about being in control of the game and benefiting from it, and its been that way since a long time. This was shown by their willingness to fight Alsiuis NPCs (instead of greens) during strike. And the way this translates into WM coins and Warmasters is why NGD had to put a stop to it. Afterall, you can't just keep letting something that is already powerful keep getting more and more powerful, because then it becomes impossible to balance. Its a balance nightmare. Unfortunately, they took way too long to act on this issue and I doubt fixing it now would actually do any good, short of removing Warmasters powers entirely. The game has been progressing to this state for awhile, anyone who has played other MMORPGs and then came to Regnum before the level 60 update noticed the difference. Regnum has slowly became more and more like every other MMORPG. It's turned into the proverbial dangling of the carrot in front of the person for motivation, this works in the short term but eventually people get annoyed.
Regnum used to be grind to 50 you're done time for the fun, I can login and logout and just have fun no more effort. Now war is effort too, not so fun any more right? The new powers just reduce the fun even further by reducing the options for everyone (beacons remove almost all CC strategy as many have complained before). In my opinion Regnum is losing everything that made it special and different so it can be just another MMORPG(tm), and here's the result.
