No sound on Ubuntu 12.04
Shortly.
I made a clean install of Ubuntu 12.04 Downloaded RO. Installed. No sound. Why? How? On Ubuntu 10.04LTS everything worked. spec. RAM:4GB Proc: Pentium(R) Dual-Core CPU E5700 @ 3.00GHz × 2 OS: Ubuntu 12.04LTS 64-bit Graph.: GeForce 210, 1024 MB Thanks in advance.

install openal or openal-soft and it should work. If it still doesn't work, you can take a look to the file /etc/openal/alsoft.conf. The default configuration does maybe not work if you use a rather uncommon sound driver output like OSSv4. Because of that I had to add "drivers = oss" to the file above.

I am soon going to do the dreaded upgrade too...im on 10.10 still...but i got the message the other day that its not supported anymore...so i have to go up a few distros lol , good to know if i have same problem i can do this, ty!!

you are welcome Ori! But I guess Ubuntu use like most Distros pulseaudio by default, so it should probably just work. The line "drivers = oss" is only right if you use this OSSv4 and removed pulseaudio.
