I agree with Shwish. But of course it all depends on what you seek, if you have a personal preference (for instance I like swords or axes on my knight and 2h version of them on barb) or just want to get most of it, no matter what weapon.
Dual wield has a big advantage if you have a good combo of weapons - basically: two weapons = two times a bonus (AS, dmg, whatever). Hammer (1h/2h) is a very popular weapon (not only for barbs).

I'm thinking on low armored targets it makes sense to use dual wielding weapons. Against highlevel knights it might be more effecient to use a very slow 2h weapon, except if they have offensive stance on.

If you want an annoying bastard go with hammers/mace.
My Barbarian is only 41, last time I used him he had dual-wield(Spear and Sword I think). Dual-wield normally gives you more speed, while 2-handed solely for high hits. Meh still there are some barbs who have both at dual-wield ![]() So then it's a matter of gear, so I agree with the above people ![]()

Well,
As the weapons trees are poor and with the actual game play, we can resume like this : - Blunt : MindSquasher & Strength - Piercing : Balestera and Range - Slashing : SouthCross & Disable limb The weapon selection is up to you and the items you got. Usually people go for the weapon tree they have with the biggest damages weapon they have. The weapon tree selection can also be related to your game style : if you want to Hunt, PvP or RvR. It also depends on the skills you want to use, as example Beast Attack is more efficient with a big damages weapon than some medium weapon with lower damages but faster attack speed. If you are planning to use passive resistance, this could be one more thing to take in count while choosing weapon. Now comes the question Dual Wielding VS Two Handed weapon : - Dual Wielding is good compromise between PvP and RvR - Two Handed is better for RvR. I hope this helps. PS: The attack speed I got is a normal one. |

I'm using this since I just can't handle any barbarian with a very slow hammer and without any attack speed leggings in PvP scale. Very slow weapon also don't do so much more damages so it's better to get faster attack speed.
All offensive hand weapon are medium attack speed. So only the main hand weapon makes the difference, it can be only "slow" or "medium" and maybe "fast" on low level weapons. I didn't made tests in arena with other players but we are used to say that medium offensive hand weapon + medium main hand weapon does a medium attack speed and medium offensive hand weapon + slow main hand weapon makes something like an attack speed between medium & slow (I think it's more close to "slow" attack speed than medium one). In the few PvPs I made even with draconic gem, I have to say that attack speed > normal gear/armor gear. Attack speed is really important factor since the patch of War Master and the implementation of offensive hand weapons that can be engraved with attack speed gems. A good realm barbarian friend have offensive hand sword with 2 x 7% attack speed and leggings +5% attack speed, he's really hard to handle. His amount of attack speed is obtained like this : 2x7% from off hand sword + 2x5% from lighting rings + 1x5% from leggings + 15% from Thirst from blood, I let you do the sum. |
