Steam ximerin packages

I've been wondering this since I first saw the sweet packages on steam, but didn't ever ask because I thought the answer would be 'no'. Is it possible for a current player to buy one of the ximerin starter packs and redeem it? And do I have to download the game through steam to be able to buy one? thx

As far as i know, you get a code which redeemable ingame.
So no download via steam is required

however, is that code redeemable for ngd / gs- accounts? afaik, the "xfire" and "funimation" codes don't work for steam-registered accounts too? not sure about that, but I remember someone in realm-chat talking about this...

"xfire" and "funimation" don't work for any account, they have expired...I think

Yes. You need to download the CoR through Steam so that the code is available on your screen.
I bought the "Realm Guard Package" yesterday and the code became available after I downloaded the game through Steam.
