I forgot how to play
Yep. If I ever knew how once, I have forgotten it after my year break. I would like some community advice that can help me start up again. I have a few questions I would like to ask, and these are the only ones I can think of that will help most. Adding your own replies help too! These are just a few of my questions.
1) Is it a good idea to make a character on Ra and get it up and learn war? 2) How can I progress in my combat other than watching videos? 3) Is testing on Amun an idea worth proceeding? 4) What are a few new ways to level up faster—if any—that don't involve lots of money? 5) What are some useful channels on youtube I can watch to learn, if I must?

On a serious note, some would say that haven is better for learning because you usually have smaller fights there. But RA is not zergy anytime everywhere, so i don't think it really matters that much. It is more about your capability to learn. In general, just test spells, find what playstyle suits you most. Simply copying setups won't do you any good, best way you learn it is by testing stuff yourself. Ofc getting some inspiriation from other players by videos or asking them is not a bad thing. For that you should tell us which class you are playing tho. |

I'll try to answer your questions as best I can, but it's probably best to take advice from a few sources and figure things out on your own. It could also help if you find someone in your realm or clan to help, but learning your class takes time and practice.
1)Fights are different on Ra than they are in Haven. It can be difficult hunting alone or in a small group, because you'll often end up against a few people at the grinding/hunting places. The invasions and fort fights are larger scale too, and it changes the dynamics of the fights. I'd agree with Hayir, if you want to learn your class, best to do it on Haven. 2) Practice, learn which spells to use and when; learn the spells the other classes are going to use against you to be able to plan ahead or react. Your type of play is going to be very different depending on your class. Learning to chain your spells so the effects don't overlap, or to be able to time a spell to hit when someone stands up from a knock or comes out of stun takes practice. Learn how to right click turn so that you can turn and cast. You can also begin moving about half way through your attack/cast animation to save split seconds during the fight. If your an archer, learn to kite. 3) Not from what I saw. Unless they're doing a "test" day, and there are plenty of people online. My experience was logging in to see 12 people online, everyone speaking spanish, then riding around to find where everyone was pvping to get killed by the group of syrtis that were online. I logged out. 4) Letter deliveries are the fastest free way to level up starting out. Once you're level 15 you can gain a level every two letters. It does slow down each level, but you can make 45-50 in a few nights delivering letters straight. After that, take "kill X monsters" quests and collect the loot to turn in: feline whiskers and fur, cyclops loot, ghost loots, golem rocks (theyre heavy and a pain but worth good exp). Other than that, "power" leveling with a hunter's pet or conj's summon is fastest. This is best done with scroll's especially when there's a server boost. Two conj leveled someone to level 40+ on about one 500% scroll with server boost, and if you're willing to buy a few 500% scrolls, with a couple people's help you can level very quickly. Hiro from Alsius made level 60 in 16 hours straight during an event (100% server boost) using 500 scrolls. 5) Depends on your class. Here's a few channel's worth having a look at: Hunter- https://www.youtube.com/user/patrickdavidson https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC-H...IbeoXfeD5-2C3w Conjuror- https://www.youtube.com/user/ELMichipk https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N5zQ...SH8JCg&index=4 https://www.youtube.com/user/MadeBy007 Warlock- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t4n6XQ598c8 https://www.youtube.com/user/ROHepha2011 https://www.youtube.com/user/magmageregnum Barb- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=063m...kot9pux8Fzx1JA This list is getting way too long. Follow the links, or go to the images section for videos that people post up. Sorry if I skipped your vids ^_^ |

55-RvR Barb, 51-Hunting Hunter, 48-Support Knight, and 44-RvR Warlock are the ones I use most.
I always wanted to be a hunter, but was never good at it. I started the game with a barb, and this is my new one(last one lost in merge) and I am very good with it, but barb gets boring. Knight is just an escape from working, and letting others do it. I love protecting my friends in RvR. Warlock is second best in my skill category, but I just can't live for that long.

Quite honestly I would wait for all the updates on Amun to go live before you go to studying other players on Youtube. A lot will change with the reduced CC durations and other buffs and nerfs.

I wanted to say something about changes too, but I wasn't sure what. Depending on your class, your setup and gameplay might have to change for the update anyway. Knights and Hunters seem to be getting a bit of a boost. Warlocks will be getting decent nerf and barbs will change some too. They seem to want to buff conj's and have them focus more on healing, but not too sure what their intentions are with that class atm...

Barbs defence nerfed quite significantly and defensive support removed, conjs support raised.. Seems they want Barbs tanking less but still dealing damage, and conjurers doing what they're supposed to be doing, support. Seems to make sense, which is why I like this update. People will be pushed into their proper roles.
