Ubuntu Black screen after game loads

Hey all, I'm trying to get RO to load on my ubuntu machine. (nvidia 7950GTX) I download the client and click launch game. I get the Regnum online splash screen and then the game goes black, and just sits there forever. I've tried yesterday and today with no different outcome. Am I doing something wrong here?

Also, Why is the linux client only 29-30MB, and the Windows client 360MB? How can that possibly be right. I'm sure I'm missing something stupid, can someone help me out? Thanks in advance.

The linux client streams all data files. It will continue to grow. But we get a faster download then our Windows friends at the beginning.

Can you post some more specific information about your machine, processor, memory, etc.

Run it on windowed mode, because it's downloading resources. It will take you a long time, so in windowed mode you can come to the forums, listen to music and so on while you wait.

Dell E1705 notebook : Ubuntu 7.10, Nvidia 7950GTX, Intel T7400, 2GB memory.

I'll try running it in windowed mode, and your saying it should sit at the black screen for quite awhile while it streams files?

try to delete or rename your whole regnum folder and download everything again

I agree with NightTwix that there is a possible hang up, and deleting relaunching might solve the problem. I noticed that because there is a launcher switch, I generally had problems launching from the downloaded launcher, and not the new launcher.

I do not think that you should be greated with a black blank screen for a while, because normally there is a loading screen, followed by character creation, and it doesn't sound like you've even been able to get this far, correct?

try deaktivation "download all avail. resources on start" at options menue, that should get you started to play after maybe 10-15 min. Game will load some things while you play but at least you can play and load stuff as you go.
