Two problems; "Loading" and "[Err]"
Ok, I've been having a bit of trouble with getting this game to run. Now that I've finally got the game to work, there are two really annoying problems with how it is running,
1st Problem; Ok, whenever I start the game and the "Loading..." screen pops up, it just stays there. I thought it was stuck, but after about 15-20 minutes the "accept" button lights up... everytime I want to start the game, this means, I have to wait 20 minutes (with no other programs running). This is odd, because my computer and my internet are quite fast, and other international MMORPGs whose servers are situated further away don't give me these wait times. 2nd Problem; Now, when I finally got into the game, things appeared fine... until I noticed the NPC names. All NPCs appear as "[err][npc_instance_display_name][xxxx]", and all NPC dialogue seems corrupted and always gives the three options "err", "npc_instance_dialog" " and "<NPC number>". While I can play, I can tell it's not going to be very enjoyable until I can somehow sort these problems out. Any help would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance... most likely
looks like some firewall issues.. something is blocked. Either your router makes troubles with the game ports or your firewall isnt configured correctly.

Hm... no. I don't think it's my firewall; I've given every possible exception to both "RegnumOnline.exe" and "ROClientGame.exe"... although, it could be a problem with my router. However, I still doubt it; it's not being blocked, it's just taking a very long time. And... I don't really think a firewall would actually make the game itself go crazy like that, would it?
I can't be sure, of course, I'm not an expert on these things... Anyways, I'm using Trend Micro Internet Security, so if anyone knows how that affects Regnum, that would be helpful, as I'm pretty sure I've allowed it through. |

Try to disable your firewall and try to start Regnum again and see what happens.
Just as a test. |

The issue with silly names like you got is often helped by "load all ressources first" option - your client doesnt know the names and theirefor cant handle the numbers-in-nametable it gets from server.
boah, cant talk shit this morning - need coffee.

Ok, now I've got the silly names out of the way (thanks!), but the issue of extreme loading times remains... even with the firewall down, the problem persists. Is this a common problem? Is there, infact, a solution? I'm 100% sure now it isn't related to firewall.
Hehe, enjoy your coffee. Such a glorious drink. |

Hey,
To make sure that you have everything set, make sure the following ports are opened for Regnum Online. Sounds to me that it might be the traffic thats causing you to wait so long. You need to allow traffic to the following ports: - TCP protocol: 48000, 48001, 47300, 80 - UDP protocol: 9660 Regards. Last edited by Wyatt; 11-30-2008 at 07:38 PM. |
