loading language resources, can't start game

I am using Ubuntu Intrepid Ibex.
Everytime I try to play Regnum Online I get the error message: "loading language resources, can't start game."

In the screen where you can choose to start the game or to edit a character, I get a blue bar in the top-left corner of the screen. displaying: downloading: 99%.
I have tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the game, removing the configuration files, choosing a different server, and choosing the option "update all resources at once"
None of them will fix the problem.
I am pretty sure I have the most up to date client.
My internet connection seems to be fine, downloading of other files does not give any problems.
