Internet traffic measure tool
We are about to get a new broadband, but it comes with download limit.
I'm not used to this kind, so I'm not really sure how much to go for. I've checked for tools to measure daily usage, tried Netstat but doesn't install in the laptop. It would be 10gb per month limit (if you are wondering it's uk). But again not sure if that's enough or low. Can you suggest any other measure tools or at least give me and idea of how good is the limit?

Hm I have 15 GB but it won't stop you, it will just slow you down a bit after reaching the limit
I'd say it's pretty average

You can try netlimiter if on windoze. It tracks, and can throttle bandwidth as well. Its been like 3 years since ive used it though , so it may not even exist anymore.
On linux, you should be able to use the built it monitors to monitor your usage. If you get ambitious, you can install smoothwall onto an empty pc and use it as a firewall, that should be able to track and throttle as well (and a plethora of other really neat things). Edit: I average about 25-30 a month, but i am always online, spend a fair amount of time ingame, and stream a lot of crap off of hulu etc. There is also another user in my house, but she is rarely doing BW-intensive things, so i would guess about all but 1 or 2 gb a month is mine.

Thanks guys!
I'll give it a try. My main uses are, normal browsing, some videos and animations, not many downloads really, only when I download some game, but then again is not something I do every week. I'm most worried about 2 things. 1) Knowing how much I use in online gaming 2) Knowing how much I use when talking to my family with Skype

Netlimiter is working wonderfully thanks!
It seems 10 gb is a bit too little. We might as well just make it unlimited for a couple of extra bucks. Thanks everyone!
