Do the damage resists on armour do anything?
You know the ones.....vs the different types of damage......bad, good, etc.
I only ask because i keep reading threads, where it goes along the lines of - 'i can hit a knight with such a spell and it does x dam, but a archer / mage only takes y dam. Now im only guessing...well no im not....I know that different the different damage types do more or less damage on the same mob, so i assume the same is true for player characters. In which case the above is perfectly correct..eg...I would expect a knight to take a shed load more damage from lightning ( wrapped in a tin can ) than a mage in magical robes...however use a big axe or sword then the opposite result occurs. There maybe many, many, many posts that include this point, but it occurs to me it is forgotten more often than not. I only paid attention to this when i noticed that the arrow with the most damage wont nesesarly do the most damage. When my marks has the cash (very skint atm) he carries different arrows for diff targets - hoping i can see a pattern in the dam i do against diff players and armour ( this is more fun than trawling thru the shops trying to remember what armour resists what damage without seeing it in the field) |

Yeah they definatly work.
It's easiest to see the difference on a mage. My Warlock had Good, Good and Good resists to Pierce. However I changed my tunic to one which was Bad to pierce. Before I changed I got 15 damage / tick with Serpent bite, after the change I got 23 damage / tick.

Very good means +30% added to the Armor Points of that armor part when that kind of damage is met.
Good means +15% Normal +0% Bad -15% Very Bad -30% I am not 100% sure this is true, only NGD is, although most people are convinced these are the right numbers.

Indeed it does. This is why I laugh at people (who have a choice: ie. not mages) with full sets of one type of armour (this group did include me for a while, and I laughed at myself too).
From the point of view of what you'd expect to do more or less damage, though, I'd expect being wrapped in a tin can to protect me from lightning better than any textile. At least, assuming the tin can wrapped me all the way to the ground.

I have vesper items equipped on my lock which are excellent for lightning. I can say lightning damage is reduced alot. Lightning(5) casted on me usually takes 90 dmg per tick. On other mages i cast this i usually see 170-250 per tick.
