Character Name Error
Well, this one has been said before, but, When I go through Character creation, as I must as a new person, It won't let me add a name. I click the input box, and nuthin' happens. I type anyways, still nothing.
I looked around the forums, found a few others who had the problem, adn I did the fix they had in been given. -Fix one was checking keymaps. That was nice, turns out i've been on "ireland" instead of "US" fixed that, and narrowed down to one as the fix suggested. Still didn't work. -Fix two said to disable Compiz. done. I even found a neat script to allow me to toggle it at will in a way, but still, even with compiz taken off, still can't type in name. So, I come now asking is there any other solutions? I'd like to play this game badly, but If I can't make a character, I can't. I'm running Linux Mint, Gnome. I think based off of the Ubuntu version Karma. I'm not totally sure though. I hope that is enough info to help diagnose the issue, and i'm looking forward to hopefully being able to finally play this game. |

Did I manage to post the ultimate doozy? I hope not, because I'm really hoping there is a solution and I can play this thing.

Have you tried it under another desktop yet, e.g. xfce or lxde? Same issues?

Could you explain in detail what you mean by desktop? Sorry, but i'm new to the linux scene and still getting used to it. One reason I really want to get this working, is that I miss gaming on my old PC, but i'd never switch back, i'm addicted to Linux.

installing another desktop environment is pretty easy. Just follow this guide https://help.ubuntu.com/9.10/config-...r-desktop-xfce
I suggest you to try it with xfce. For KDE you have to download much more stuff and KDE is a bit too bloated IMHO. Furthermore xfce is better to run usual gnome (gtk) applications. But you can also try KDE instead, some linux users prefer KDE to other desktop environments. The gnome desktop is the default desktop, you use in Mint Linux. Here you can read much more about desktop environments: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Desktop_environment |
