I agree with you doctormo. It would look more professional to use the union jack for the english language. Also the spanish flag for spanish language and portuguese flag for portuguese language.

But as it is said before, they seem to use the flags from the countries where there are most users from.

It's not similar at all... In fact, it's the roots of all the Romance languages, which include French, Italian and Spanish.

English is now global. Of course you have the dialects and all that, but almost all the people with internet access can speak it (at a very basic level), so putting a flag would never be accurate.

Anyway, I think the most appropriate design would be to have both flags in the same image. Just draw a diagonal line from the topmost right to the bottom of the flagpole (I think that's how it's called). Add on each of the parts one of the flags.

I understand your complaints, Spanish has many dialects, so trying to define a country or an "universal Spanish" flag for all of them would be a nightmare.

Yes, I mean more common. When you ask 100 people which flag they would choose to express the english language most of them would prefer the union jack instead of the american flag.


So it would be more professional to use the flag that is more associated with english language because it is used more often in this context.
It would seem more international, and so more professional. But that's just my opinion.
