Pauldrons are kind of in an arms race among MMO's. They just keep getting bigger and bigger (World of Warcraft is the biggest offender I think); so I guess NGD is just keeping up with the Joneses. Maybe pauldron's could be turned off like helmets.
The new models look great though. The armour is among the best I've seen in an MMO. It looks realistic (Pauldrons aside ), and is not garish. Faces of the models are great too. More importantly, the characters are updated to be current while still keeping Regnum's tasteful style.

what armor is the dark elf wearing? I assume it is a barb, and will this bring duel wielding?

I believe the dark elf is wearing dragon armour despite the dual wielding, and I heard from someone that dual wielding as well as some balance and other important improvements will come after this update.

The way the new armours are designed grants us the possibility of adding more distinct sets in the future (yes, a realm specific could be one).
There is a lot of potential with the new characters that will be unveiled in time. Regards,

Naaah that's mine !!!
Anyways, awesome job. Decent character models (and a new UI ?) were missing to make RO a really advanced game in term of gfx. One question : We won't be able to access to Amun during your "internal test period" ? (i'd mean Amun off for almost 1 month, and some people need to test Xim stuff there) thanks NGD... you guys really rock !

New UI? No, the UI in this game is just a masterpiece, absolutely brilliant, its simple, non intrusive, clean and aesthetically pleasing. After playing regnum you realize that other mmorpg UIs were made to look bulky(They also look like crap to me with all those tiny images and useless wide borders everywhere.) not to be functional.
