Default Role Playing in Regnum

Is anyone else into it? Backgrounds for your character? Role Play between PC's? I just haven't seen much of it in the week I have played.

And the only reason I ask is because I come from a D&D, LARP, and role play server background. Where mundane talk is unwanted, unneeded, and looked down upon.

god bless you.

you can try in regnum but you'll find that many people play this game to chat (and play when they don't have to chat). i tried and gave up but maybe someday...

Would definitely add a little flavor to the game if there was some more RP going on.

And really this is not a problem because of the people that play the game.
Most games with good role play are rewarded with bonus EXP. And thats a GM (or admin's, or developer's) call.

I think it would be unfair to make players role play, if they just want to play the game for what is worth. And since there are no role play dedicated servers I cannot really complain about the people that do not role play, it just may not be their thing. Which is fine.

But I would like to see more of it.

I can see that no one really cares about role playing since only 2 people responded. lol.

i follow this thread, but i didn't post before.

I roleplay my character, havin a nice background involving personal goals, past relatioships and a strong religious sense. Indeed, i talk to some npc's and some of them are (more that) friends of mine. Yes, npc!
Of course, facts ingame have effects on me and my char, but i try to take my personal storyline ahead.

One day, i dreamed about a pure roleplayin clan, away for mundane talks and stuff.

It's hard to roleplay in the warzone when you're constantly under threat from the enemy, and believe me you'll spend loads of time in the wz worrying about xp or enemy incursions when you're "old" enough to hang around there.

There isn't much usable elements in-game that could help roleplaying. Taverns for example, are situated in the towns behind the walls and they don't even offer drinks or meals for sale. Maybe someday we will be able to spend some time not killing each other and having a drink somewhere instead, but even then I suspect most people care more about RP points than RPing .

couldn't have said it better amade, there's simply not time to rp in the war zone, or it's hard to do, but you'll still have to be constantly on guard. A hunter might help a lot here

Cool

Ok. Alright.

I can accept that for now.

I have not been to the war zone, I'm still fairly new to this game. Although I have a feeling that it could still be done. It doesn't even have to be huge elaborate stories.

Example:
A friend that I play with has two characters, he wanted me to hold an item for him so that I could give it to his other character. He gave me the item and said, "Give this to my brother when you see him."
So he logged, and changed characters and when I ran into his other character I greeted him with a bow and said, "Ah, your bother just came through here, he wanted me to give you this." Blah Blah Blah. Nothing big, just a little flavor to the game. And what is better is a by stander got in on our little scene and enjoyed it very much, commenting, 'Wow, this is sweet....it's just like a movie." Yes kind of a noobish comment, but the fact that a transaction like that now had purpose, reasoning, and a bystander was interested in our dialog is good enough for me to continue. We are playing in a Medieval Fantasy world. I doubt that our characters would go around asking "Whats up bro?" or "wht lvl r u?" or "c ya lata" blah blah blah, you get my point.

I'm not saying that mundane talk is horrible, or unnecessary.
Normal talk is fine.
What I am saying is that RP is nice, and adds flavor, and that maybe we should give it more thought.
