Can't open File... error 5:access is denied

I'm getting this message

Can't open File 'xxxxx.dll' (error 5:access is denied)

often when I'm loading up the game. It happens for many of the game .dll files.

Any thoughts or solutions?

usually thats a problem in Vista.
try installing it outside program files

like in c:\regnum

Yup... a Vista problem.

I found a solution by going into:
a) Control Panel
b) User Accounts
c) Turn User Account Control On or Off
d) clicking off the box for Account Control

So far, my impression of Vista is that it tries really hard to look good and useful... but generally uses a large amount of memory to do very little.

Uhmm... that is indeed a "fix", but effectively disables some much needed protection.
Installing regnum outside the "program files" folder works well and doesn't need this fix/potential entry-point for malicious software etc...

UAC isnt meant to be a security feature
