where the hell did I hear mutually assured destruction before >_< I know I've heard it somewhere...
but weird that the cpu made it to a spot where it handled both your shots from initiating to hitting.

It's a common phrase to describe the Cold War.

MAD was the national policy of the Soviet Union (and later "CIS" Russia) and the United States based on treaty from the mid 1960s until the US left the ABM treaty after Bush II's election in the early 2000s timeframe.

It stands for Mutually Assured Destruction, and is based on the premise that niether nation would attack the other as the only possible net result would be the utter devastation of it's own homeland, and the slaughter of 95+% of it's population. The world was SO MUCH DIFFERENT then. The Soviets were an -extremely- belligerent closed society, and we never really understood each other at all until Reagan and Gorbachev. Going to bed every night wondering if the 10s of thousands of nuclear devices possessed by the Soviets were going to rain down on us could really screw with a kid's mind.
