What's up with some of these quests?
I've been playing for a few days now for the first time in a long time. I've noticed a lot of changes, some good, some bad. No big surprise there, there are always some for and some against every updated detail. I have to say Fatigue sucks royally. I wasn't around so I'm not sure how it was presented to the masses. To me it looks like a 'Buy premium or piss off!' deal. I've never encountered this idea in any other RPG. But anyway, my real question is why are some of the quests beeing issued while the player is too low a level to handle them? For the third time, at lvl 26, I've encountered quests requiring me to kill MOB's that are, at the very least, orange (hard). There was another that required red (very hard) kills, and a quest at lvl 23 that requires a Great Grizzzly kill and it's still purple (impossible) at lvl 26. Shouldn't these quests just be issued at the appropriate lvl or is there an alterior motive?

See the Safe Zone as a trial to go to the War Zone : if you go there alone or can't ask for help properly, you'll be dead quickly.
MHO is that NGD wants people to ask their realm for help, to pass through quests that can't be done alone. It's a way to be concerned with others players to be forced to ask for a little helping hand, to start some cooperation .

I do believe the quest you are talking about bully has been implemented for awhile. My archer needed help back then on those quests and I haven't played her months.

Before the xp curve and fatigue thingy, when I was doing those quests, it was quite easy to achieve since you can simply grind a little before you take those mobs. I've my quests solo. Now, I realized it is a little frustrating to do such. But I agree with Laeloth. Even at level 15, there are quests where it is described that you will need some companions to complete such a task. Therefore, I think NGD was infact trying to induce camaraderie through such.

Those quest got impossible after mobredistibution about 1/2-3/4 year ago. The mobs who spawned and were target for those mobs were lower lvl and got replaced by higherlvlones and questmobs just stayed in same area. See here:

um.. yea... I remember trying that once on a purple mob... 4 of us tried to gang up on it... we hardly even made a noticable dent in its HP bar. for Orange mobs you can gang up (or it kills you ~10 times before you kill it), but with purple mobs, *IF* you even hit, you hit for almost nothing. You need help. get use to it, going to need help if you plan on surviving in WZ. |

I know theses quests. Some of them you could do alone, if you waited one or two levels before doing it. But the great grizzlies were hard indeed. I had help from a conjuror there and for some mobs from a clanmate - 10 level above me.
They are indeed for building parties in early stages and ask for help. Its like a clanmate told yesterday, that a low level wanted to kill the dragon alone. After 5 seconds the remark in clan chat was... "The dragon won". Get used to work with comrades. It makes thinks much more easier then alone. Even leveling with a bigger group (if it is balanced) will bring good XP (at least with my conjuror i can say that).

Has NGD commented about what they are going to do about xp and grouping?
I find that they have broken it, it is not split evenly (based on level of ppl would still be "even") among the group, but based on who deals how much damage and who uses helpful abilities on group mates => turns every on into a greedy bastard trying to out damage group mates, or casting helpful abilities right after another person did so that theirs is the "active" one. (note, more damage doesn't mean more mobs being killed in the long run.) |
