RO on Mac OS X
Ok, It's been done. RO runs sufficiently well on Mac OS X under CrossOver Games, with a little tweaking in winecfg.
Steps to get RO running in mac os x: 1) Download the Regnum Online installer for windows 2) Obtain a copy of CrossOver Games (this is about $40 I think...) 3) Launch CrossOver Games 4) Click Install Software on the CXG main window 5) Click "Install Unsupported Software..." 6) Click "Continue" 7) Select "New Bottle", and then Create Bottle and Continue 8) Name your bottle, and then choose winxp for the type 9) Click "Choose Installer File...", and then Install. 10) Follow the normal RO setup 11) Go to Manage Bottles (Configure>Manage Bottles) 12) Select the bottle you previously created 13) Click the Advanced tab, and click "Open C: Drive in Finder" 14) Open up a web browser and search for "USERENV.dll". Download this and place a copy in the ./system and ./system32 directories, relative to the C: directory you just opened. I placed it in both just to be safe. Close this Finder window. 15) Back in the Manage Bottles window, click the Control Panel tab and then launch winecfg 16) Click the Libraries tab, and in the text field for "New override for library:", type "userenv.dll". Then click add. 17) Find the newly created userenv.dll in the "Existing Overrides" list, select it and click Edit, and set it to Native. 18) Click the Graphics tab now, and set Wine to emulate a virtual desktop. Then set your desired RO window size. 19) Click OK to save and exit winecfg You should now be good to go. Launch RO from wherever the installer created the launcher, and it should all work. It runs for me with Direct 3D, and the game sound even works. Tell RO to run in fullscreen mode, otherwise it doesn't render correctly. Shown in screenshot is RO running at 1680x1050x32 with weather/lighting/particle FXs on, high view distance and high texture quality. Pretty good FPS, very small (acceptable) animation glitches. The FPS I'm getting is only about 30 lower than I would with the native Linux client. Running on Macbook Pro 2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo w/NVidia GeForce 8600M GT If somebody can confirm that this works for them also, we should get this thread stickied for potential mac customers. Thank you VERY MUCH Arwen for helping me get this working!

Congratulations! Excellent guide! Detailed and comprehensive, and it actually works quite well! It's not a permanent solution since a native client would be awesome.

No, real fullscreen doesn't work afaik.
I had just gotten it working when I posted this, and since then I found out a few things... *Particle effects/weather/lighting don't work even if turned on, and I can actually boost my fps up to around 80 if i turn them off *The mouse scroller doesn't work very well, this is apparently a crossover games problem and not an RO issue. The only way to switch quick-bars is using the function keys *Keys get stuck a lot; if you move your mouse outside the wine window and back in, whatever key was on is stuck on. In the case of caps lock this can be bad, because apparently you can't move until you repeat the process of getting caps lock re-stuck.

Really nice job and it will be usefull for those who wants to play Regnum in Mac. Something like that happend to me when i start playing Regnum in Debian. I fix it erasing all the layouts of keyboards and keeping just the spanish layout (i have that keyboard ). |

So this is running pretty well for me on my iMac.
The only thing that is a little annoying is the mouse cursor is sort of a garbled mess. Everything else is great... it's just the mouse cursor doesn't display correctly. Hoping that maybe Plover figured this out too. |
