Question about gems

What is the lowest level mob that drops gems? Or is it like a weapon drop where you can get it off of anything your level?

I am level 50

I have dropped gems from the following monsters
Various Igneos lvl 20+
Various Orcs lvl 40+

You can get drops from any monster at any level. 1 - 60

Is it possible to drop good gems from low mobs?
I mean more than 2-3 dmg or something like this

I got a +7 lightning damage gem from a young troll.

So in theory, I could go to the initiation zone and just kill 1000 mobs until I get some gems?

correct

but that would not be fair to the noobs that cannot kill things higher than themselves. Also, now because you said your open thought here lol there is a chance that low lvl mobs will be changed to not drop anything for people above their level

I've been wiping out mobs on Kheled's Slope for a while, no luck so far though. My guess is gems are so rare (esp. the really good ones) that you're better of grinding on mobs of your own lvl and hope for a gem drop along the way.

I got a +4 fire gem from a treasure, so I guess less people will run by ignoring them now...
