You can tame mobs that are "normal" and lower. At level 50 I believe you can tame mobs that are lvl 51, no higher. (e.g. ignean orc grunt, savage goblin.)

Monster list is as follows Ancient Saber Tooth lvl 51 (low damage & high attack speed "slash") Ancient Lion lvl 51 (low damage & high attack speed "slash") Ancient Puma lvl 50 (low damage & high attack speed "slash") Giant Troll lvl 50 (high damage & low attack speed "blunt") Giant Tol Tar lvl 50 (high damage & low attack speed "blunt") Ignean Orc Grunt lvl 51 (medium damage & m. speed / high hp base "blunt") Elder Griffin lvl 51 (medium damage & attack speed "slash") Huge Green Cobra lvl 50 (medium damage & attack speed "blunt") Savage Goblin lvl 51 (medium damage & attack speed "slash") Aquantis Elite (medium damage & low attack "peirce") I think this is it... but it's been a long day and I may have forgotten a few.. Test vs pets and armor: If a person is wearing full lvl 50 hunter armor vs a snake they will take on average about 30 more points of damage per attack than a person wearing a lvl 40 helm + lvl 40 pauldrun + lvl 50 armor. Armor combinations are a must! Last edited by DemonMonger; 09-04-2009 at 07:15 AM. Reason: added aquantis |

Many high level hunters tend to go for Tol-Tars/Trolls as if the target is moving its hard for a faster mob to use its speed to its advantage. Some also use Ignean orc Grunts however.

I prefer the slow attack speed pets for exactly the reason stated. When the pets only get a couple hits off per fight due to the target moving its best that its a solid hit.
One that is not on DMC's list but i also still find a nice pet..... -Beastly Yeti lvl 48, it hits around the same as a tol tar/troll but has less hp. |
