I don't think it's right to demand that every country enforces a policy on this issue - let's not forget that some nations are very traditional and have certain ways concerning the institution of marriage. I think the matter requires further discussion.

Im ambivalent about this. While i agree that gay marriage is something that under ideal circumstances every country should have, Miraculix has a point in that in traditional countries people react strongly to these kind of changes, and the transition period can be very tough.

Let me post an article I wrote recently for my local socialist newspaper:

Opponents of same-sex marriage were dealt a severe blow in August. Judge Vaughn Walker of the Ninth Circuit ruled that the California Marriage Protection Act, a.k.a “Prop 8” violated gay’s and lesbian’s rights under the Fifth and Fourteenth Amendment of The Constitution of The United States.

In his ruling Judge walker found that same-sex couples were as likely as heterosexual couples to be good parents, and, that contrary to right-wing ideology, people can not choose their sexual orientation. These “findings of fact” will be used by the appellate court as the legal basis on which to adjudicate an appeal. Proponents of Prop 8 will find these difficult to overturn because only trial courts may make findings of fact and appellate courts may overturn them only if they are grossly inaccurate.

Immediately after Judge Walker issued the ruling it was condemned by the right as “an activist judge over-ruling seven million voters.” But there is problem; seven million people can’t take away a basic human right from the minority. It’s called the “Tyranny of the Majority”, and Jefferson issued stern warnings of it. Judge Walker echoed Jefferson’s sentiment by stating in his decision, that “fundamental rights may not be submitted to a vote.”

Judge Walker’s ruling is a major milestone in the struggle for equality. Gays and lesbians have been discriminated against for too long. It’s time to stop telling people who to love, how to live, and let them make those choices for themselves. Legalize same-sex marriage now.

The idea of opposite sex marriages is a bit outdated given the rising number of homosexuals around the world

Solution to this issue is to make all marriages illegal.
Marriages are the No.1 cause of divorces. You loose money over them.
If you get divorced its like a DoT spell draining money from your bank account 'cause of alimony.
