first of all, this is a sick way to control every little payment in our lives.

second of all, this is ridiculous. You want to buy a 50cent gum, you have to pay with a credit card. wat.

And the reason? To prevent terrorism, of course. Only criminals don't want to be controlled by government.

Well, I am one of those who hates paying with cash.
I would be ok with the option to pay with cash if I could pay with my card everywhere, but a rule like this should at least force all stores to accept card payment.

I had this idea for an very long time, now it seems the first steps are made about it( no i didnt asked for it )

If you would completely remove cash and only pay by credit card and make the transaction free then:

-No banks are robbed
-No supermarkets/gas stations are robbed(unless they rob it for an beer)
-No old ladies will be robbed(unless they want lipgloss or something)
-makes it harder for drug couriers

And probably many other good reasons
And maybe 1 or 2 reasons not to

I think it says "public services" such as "to pay water bills". So you can still pay for a 50c. gun with hard cash.

Of course, what really is “WEIRD” is the fact that we’re expected to believe that US citizens will find it perfectly normal being asked to report on each other for a government that wishes your every purchase to be electronically traceable on the off chance that you might be an enemy of the state.

Piz and people living in a post communist country like me have heard tales and knows what does "enemy of the state mean". And it was perfectly normal to report on each other if you didnt like your neighbour.
