Default Tales of Syrtis from the bard of Fisgael

In the fair realm of the elves, there is harmony, beauty, and culture overflowing, or rather there was. Syrtis has long been at war with two other realms, Ignis and Alsius. The people in the inner realm live under the constant threat of invasion. There are benefits to this war, however, the Syrtian Republic has been truly unified, all the clans brought together and organized, and heroic leaders are born every day, this is the story of one such hero.

A team of soldiers stood impatiently at the gate to the grand Eferias Castle, waiting as one of the gate guards went to get his captain. For a few awkwardly quiet moments the soldiers looked back and forth at each other, and the remaining knight guarding the gate looked over the troops that had been sent from the inner realm to reinforce Eferias, there were about ten total, three marksmen stood, bows in hand, on the sides of the group, a hunter kept a watch for any surprise attacks, two knights shone their shields amidst the rest of them, a warlock was deep in thought with his staff in his right hand and a spellbook in his left, two conjurers leaned on their staves, and a solitary barbarian sat on a rock with his helmet at his side, which revealed his rounded ears and short, messy black hair, and his claymore in his lap.

Finally, after forcing the soldiers to wait for about fifteen minutes the guard returned, his captain in tow. The captain was a wood elf mage with long, blonde hair tied into a ponytail, and piercing blue eyes, and he said to the guard "Where are their orders and papers, and who is the leader?" the guard gulped slowly, he hadn't thought to find out who the leader was. The guard stepped forward nervously and said "Who is your leader? And where are your orders?" Suddenly to the guard's surprise, the fresh faced, inexperienced looking barbarian rose, sheathed his blade, strapped on his helmet, and walked past the guard and up the ramp towards the captain, who stood directly in front of the gate.

The wood elf was as surprised as the guard by the fact that this barbarian had turned out to be the leader of this team of soldiers, some of whom appeared more experienced, 'Why?' the captain thought, and was silent for a moment when the barbarian said "Greetings to you, captain, my name is Jeraik Fireiblad, and I was put in charge of bringing these men here, but that is the exten of my command as far as I know, we are now to follow one of the captains here, captain Badura Sylvarcana, I think."

A slight grin appeard on the captain's face, he doubted that they were assassins, but he would rather be safe than sorry, so ge decuded to check their orders before revealing his own identity. The captain held out his hand and said "Your orders, please?" the barbarian began feeling around his tabard covered armor for where he had put the envelope, and then procured it from underneath his right pauldron. Jeraik handed the elegant envelope, with it's green wax seal still intact, to the captain and said "Of course, sir, how silly of me." and lowered his head for a moment. The captain broke the seal on the envelope, removed the paper inside, and read the beautiful script quietly, a look of concentration on his face on his face all the while. No one at Eferias had requested these reinforcements, so it probably meant that something was going to happen, and it was going to happen soon.
