New Confuse: Thoughts?
So what about Confuse,
Since I've been playing the game people have always been complaining about this spell, probably more than any other spell in the history of RO. And now that it's finally nerfed, I haven't seen even 1 thread ( maybe overlooked, my bad then ) giving it's opinion. So, what do you guys think? Description of the Old Confuse: Confuse The enemy is constantly distracted. He cannot use non-offensive powers (Any spell that do no inflict direct damage). Type: Constant Duration: 15, 20, 25, 30, 35 Cost: 120, 140, 160, 180, 200 Casting: 1,5 Cooldown: 60 GCD: Short Range: 25 Discipline Tree: Tricks, avaible for all archers. Cannot cast non-damaging powers Description of the New Confuse: Confuse The enemy is constantly distracted. He cannot use non-offensive powers (Any spell that do no inflict direct damage). Type: Constant Duration: 10, 13, 16, 19, 22 Cost: 120, 140, 160, 180, 200 Casting: 1,5 Cooldown: 60 GCD: Short Range: 25 Discipline Tree: Scouting, only avaible for Hunters. Well I'll start,
I voted I like it because, I remember from when I used to play hunter even I thought it was OP, when I switched classes to Lock I hated confuse 5 it was just way too much! Now it finally got nerfed so if I get knocked from my horse and get a confuse 5 on my arse I'll just treehug waiting for the effect to lose it's duration Thank you NGD! |

I still don't like the effect, it's too strong, but it's definitely an improvement.

i like it, 22 seconds it's not a long time, it's a skill that someone can dispells you so I believe now is not a problem, and not everyone uses it on 5.

i suggested 20 seconds duration at lvl 5, so 22 is a real good improvement in my eyes

I don't really think its a big change, most max scouting anyways for Hunters' few spammable attack skills (ensnaring arrow) so I think the duration is a help, but, the main problem is still there. confuse could have retained its duration, if it could be a cc that is defendable against (mindblank/defensive support etc)
Or allow like people have suggested, self buffs castable under effect, but not any ally support skills. (would this be Underpowered though against classes with limited or no often used ally skills, like barb?) I'd rather see confuse as a Cast speed debuff, that a player has to 'concentrate' longer because of it, so it would still be a pain to be hit by it. |

Those 22 secs are still plenty of time to kill someone even from full HP, and Hunter is still nerfed to crap because of it. Thus, all core problems remain.
The only thing that has changed is less people playing Hunters thus less Confuse prevailance. |

Suggestions:
- Change the effect of Confuse to a heavy cast speed malus as suggested above. This would keep its anti-Conjuror role, especially if they need to Sanct. - Make Darkness dispellable, since it is magic and dispel is an anti-magic, thus cannot be blocked. Perhaps increase the range to 25 to compensate for the nerf. - Change the effects of DI to match those of the current Offensive beacon, 70% resist to all CCs, and don't block non-damaging powers. - Replace the effects of Offensive beacon with those of current DI, but only lasting for 15-20 seconds. And most "lose-lose" situations regarding these spells would disappear: - No more hopelessness since Confuse and Darkness could be countered properly. - More general CC resistance during every day fights without beacons, allowing any class e.g Knights or Warlock to charge like a barb with UM when DI'ed. - Changed Offensive beacon is more balanced as targets are 100% immune to many powers but can still be stopped by damaging powers. - No longer any need to rely on MS for beaconed enemies since the effect wears off soon enough and can be countered. - More careful timing and use of all spells would be required for success. |
