Well,
All we do now = Pylons + beacon + rush... to me this is boring. This is like headbutting a wall with a helmet on, as you wait to see what cracks first the wall or your face. |

I have abandoned some of my area CCs (MoD, Sultars), due to the cost/effect being thrown out of balance due to the ever increasing amount of offensive beacons.
However, I have not put those 10 skill points in damage spells but rather in-direct spells that have an adverse effect on the targeted opponent but circumnavigate the bonuses given from offensive beacons (Energy borrow etc). The situation is nearly as frustrating on my knight. Often players complain knights have far too many CCs - as anyone with two brain cells to rub together should know, unlike barbarians we do not have the dps to just smack shit around with impunity thus the necessity of our CCs. They are also a useful way to provide in-direct support. However, it is quite annoying when all three of my immobilize/knocks are resisted on a single target, half the time I consider it a waste of mana to attempt a CC unless I Mindsquash first. I won't deskill these spells though, as what would I replace them with..? I already can skill all the most useful supportive spells (Shield Wall, Heroic Presence, Protect Ally). As such I haven't voted - polls should consist of more than just positive and negative.

Regarding the poll, no I would not abandon CC areas for damage areas, because damage can be absorbed too in war situations, not just CC effects.
--- As a rmore in-depth look, I still use either CC or damaging area skills, depending on class. For example, on barb, Typhoon is still useful, because even if it fails, it still deals 1k damage to each target, and Deafening roar and Howl are usually very effective. And on Hunter and Marks, Hinder, Caltrops and Lightning arrow are always useful. For Warlock, MoD is still useful if you manage to use it after beacons are out (often people won't rebeacon before rushing into fort for example). Twister, Frozen storm and Fireball do low damage but are still useful, because every little bit counts. On the Knight I would not use an area these days, although I used to carry Typhoon and Thunder strike. This is mainly because you have to get lucky with an area on Knight, usually rushing into enemy lines and casting it WHILE The enemy is trying to beacon, preventing them from doing so. Knight is the best class for doing this. I still skill single-target CC spells on every class as they work often in hunts, open field and at bridges, and sometimes even at wars. |
