View Full Version : Strategy to get new players

Hola,
The last update had a good effect on Haven, we saw a lot of players coming back and we are getting more and more interesting fight especially during European time. I hope the next update will even bring more!
But i rarely see any new player and I don’t see any effort from NGD. You know it is sometimes boring to fight the same players again and again.
So the question is how can regnum get more new players?
How NGD advertising the game?
Also some suggestions:
- Co-optation : If you bring a NEW player, and he reaches level 50 you get a reward. ( xim or gold…)
- Advertising Community : Build a community that is able to advertise and publish in social & video sharing networks
- Leveling : Still so boring and hard to lvl 35...
- Close Realm Chat Also I would suggest CLOSING REALM CHAT as it is used by no life chating, crying babies and haters to share some retard ideology and disappointing view of the game.
- Across servers : It would be nice to open transfer with a balanced why across servers.
Other suggestions :
- Sentain > [B]jumper/jump event - instant 30/40 or even 50 level for new players
- kowocki > [B]More and better realm tasks and increasing exp for low lvls
Best regards,
Artemo

That's a good idea. Players could encourage their friends to join regnum and make a little profit on the side :D
- Advertising Community : Build a community that is able to advertise and publish in social & video sharing networks
Not only the community should advertise the game. Whats more important is that the developer advertises the game. I don't know how much an online ad-campain costs... Another idea would be to send out E-Mails to every Regnum acc with a special code or something to bring some people back into the game.
Everytime I have to see the likes on CoRs official Twitter site I have to cringe... 5 likes, maybe 10... that is certainly not nomal for an MMORPG.
I am always exited to see someone uploading those gameplay videos and when I see that they invested time and passion in those videos it makes me sad that nearly nobody watches them :(
- Leveling : Still so boring and hard to lvl 35...
I think that it gets boring AFTER 35. If you only do the green quests you are lvl 35 in 20 hours, that's a good time I think. From level 40 onwards there are hardly any mobs to level on and atleast on haven and valhalla no enemy players to level on :D also the realm tasks have not been updated to the new mobs yet... I would like to farm at trelleborgs beach for example but when I don't get that extra exp from realm tasks it's just not worth it.
- Close Realm Chat Also I would suggest CLOSING REALM CHAT as it is used by no life chating, crying babies and haters to share some retard ideology and disappointing view of the game.
Realm chat was introduced on Haven and Valhalla to give a new player the feeling that they ARE in fact playing an MMORPG with other players online... when I created a new character, the first other player I saw was when I was level 12 and on my way to birka. Thats ridiculous. In my opinion the initiation zones should be important for higher level players too, maybe you can find crafting materials there that are neccesary for high level crafting or include something else to make higher level players enter the initiation zones and thus give incentive and advice for the new players.
Without the realm chat most new players wouldn't even find the Iron RIGHT NEXT TO THEM for this one quest in Rottersvall...
On the other hand you have times when even the Realm chat is completly empty and nothing gets written in about an hour, I think that repells new players even more. Also there it the issue you mentioned with old players whining about how good it was in the past and that CoR is "doomed" now...
Best,
Sentan

I agree with all your points... I don't see new players on Haven and all your ideas would help.
Best way to bring new players to CoR would be jumper/jump event - instant 30/40 or even 50 level for new players (during xmass for example) so they can skip leveling stage and join wars ;)
This kind of event worked pretty good in Vindictus, Tera Online, Elsword, Flyff, Ragnarok Online or Digimon Masters Online :)

I know how to play Regnum BECAUSE of realm-chat, as I began learning to do so there. I considered the opinions & discourse that the people there stated & debated, & self-taught doing so, & as well, I met, then chatted over time with, my RO-mentor (S'altor) & a few other friendly, helpful players who imparted to me the basics, then more advanced concepts of RO-gameplay philosophy. Removing this single difference would quite likely ruin whatever remaining chances the Haven-server has to survive & thrive separate from the Ra-server, assuming that survival, & not a merger, actually IS the goal of this thread's author.
I've stayed on Horus (Haven), even as the trend to go play on Ra became an UNstoppable force, to the very breaking point of Haven. The why is simple. Haven 'feels' populated. There's easily-observed REAL community there (as well as disagreements). Yet, Ra 'feels' like a ghost-town to beginners & non-wm players. There's little-to-no realm chat usage there (but hey, the commerce tab commonly sees such use that it often scrolls like a REAL advertising marquee ... heh!). What "REAL community" that exists on Ra does so exclusively in general, clan & warmaster chats alone, & this makes all the difference....

Inner realm chat is far enough, oh not enough ? clan chat, general chat, wm chat, forum, facebook...
realm chat is just too much spam with 100%BS.

Well, it is enough for established players. But actual new players who don't know the game at all usually consider the game dead if there is no chat or respond to their questions at all.
And that's even the case on RA like Lebeau mentioned, hardly anyone talks in realm chat.
And the commerce chat gives it more of a feeling of item selling bots, since there are no conversations.

I don't agree with closing realm chat in the warzone yet.
If there were enough players within the inner realm regularly then it'd be plausible, but there are not. New players within an MMO need to feel as though there are other players within the game and are more likely to stay if they're able to interact with others. This is the advantage of realm chat.
Furthermore, this game doesn't exactly have the best graphics, quests, and general PvE atmosphere. The best way to keep new player interest at the moment is by getting them into the warzone or by getting them involved with other players. Get rid of realm chat and that's much harder to accomplish.

Any advertisement or attempt to bring new players to game will fail as long as the lvling update wont be finished.
Now we lvl fast to lvl 40 via grind and quests- this part of update is big success but then what?
1) hardly any realm tasks and grind to do
-dont tell me you will say a low lvl player to kill 200+ enemies to get 40k exp while he is an easy 2hit target and 9/10 kills he performs are not accounted cause his damage on target is laughable)
-mail tasks-> enjoy 20+ horsey rides per lvl ("delivery boys online")
-loot tasks and kill creture task-> good luck with that, got lowbie on ra, spend HALF HOUR to find the loot task that is doable cause creature was not deleted or creatures which drop the loot are not very hard/impossible for me
NEEDS URGENT UPDATE
2) war experience from enemies
-> still too low IMO to compete with grind, for low lvls impossible (most of time too low damage done to enemies to get credit) unless you change the squid island to lvl 30-49 battleground
-> why low lvl players dont get rewards from capturing forts unless they are lvl 45+?
WHAT NEEDS TO BE DONE
-> the most simple solution I have suggested already 3 years ago:
1 000 000 exp for lvl 50 (more steep exp curve)-> it equals current lvl 39-> 39 lvls is more than enough to get accustomed to basic game mechanic, grind, realm topography etc. YOU EARN MONEY FROM LVL 50+ so why create walls and obstraclesfor your players (clients) in reaching it. From lvl 50 to 60 is loong way-> now its 73% of exp curve, with my proposal it will be circa 90%
BUT AS LVL 50+
-you have enough hp, mana, power and disciple points, armour points to survive at war zone and forts and contribute to war effort, besides you can do decent crafting (from lvl 50 onwards), help kill warzone bosses, help kill (when updated) inner realm bosses, do grind, go hunting, do fort war, help with invasion, get war master coins so your journey truly begins...
another step is lvl 55 when you just get better armour, weapons and can do dragon raids and finally lvl 60 to get war master and champion status
These thoughts are based at my observations since 2011 on how my and befriended clans performed, how new players and friends i invited tothe game performed
JUST CHANGE EXP CURVE OR FIX REALM TASKS AND GIVE BATTLEGROUND FOR LVLS 30-49 FREE FROM LVL 55+ DEMIGODS so thy get battle hardened on more equal and enjoyable terms and get experience in war (now they are just plankton, they see it, dont like it and quit after they hit wall)
and don't tell me that NGD will loose income because just by watching commerce on ra/haven you see that 99% boxes, sockets, item fussions etc are bought by lvl 50+ players and most grind is still at lvl 50+ (so still ppl will buy a lot of exp scrolls)
maybe change premium scroll for lvl 30 to scroll to lvl 50 at current prize (and delete lvl 45 scroll)
Fix these problems then you can add other features for lvl 50+ like new quests and tasks related to warzone invasions etc. For haven you need decent population first, now haven is just another test server for ra

+10000000 to all your points <3.
About lvl 35, i still think going all the way to level 60 is still too long and boring, all these new quests get you to lvl 40 easily, what about after that? Warring is 1000 exp per enemy, the only way a low level can get that is by HELP. Vigilant spirit does not help. Yes it does not, so what if the stats are that of a level 50, still no chance against lvl 60.
My lvl 49 hunter hits 15 normals on any archer or mage. So i only get exp by ganking someone 2v1 or in a zerg fight. Well than again a simple summon lighting or any other combos are easy to kill a lower level.
The second option is grinding. I need not talk about it.
I see many players making new toons, and leave game until they even reach l35, your last update was gg and it should make them come to warzone soon, but then again it is too long for them to get to lvl 60, and lvl 55+ is the most fun part of the game, as before that either the dmg is too low in war or grinding is just too slow.
Best thing for faster level is ; Please, Decrease Exp bar !
It feels just too long, and when you finally reach level 60, not a single reward for us, award us some magical but usable gear at least.

First of all you have to grind your way from lvl 45 to 55 and then you are only HALF WAY on the exp curve... having to grind 75% of the exp (without having the realm tasks nowadays) is just ridiculous.
Quests make up maybe 25% of the exp a char should have.
Either new quests get added, that are fun and provide an acceptable amount of exp/ gear or the expcurve has to be tinkered with.
Imo it would be better when half of the exp is reached earlyer... maybe around level 45.
From then on you have to join the warzone and take the risk to get attacked by enemys, the monsters in the warzone are stronger then any other monster you have faced before, hardend by the harsh environment. You will recieve much more experience by fighting these creatures.
New exp curve? (http://www.bilder-upload.eu/upload/afdd2b-1481908484.png)
And please make 10,000,000 exp the maximum, I can't stand those 11.sometihng  :D

I don't play regnum to discover human race, variety and emotions, doing this in my rl. If you do then you have a problem
FACT: Most who play RO quit. Most who quit do so early on, long before reaching the warzone. I would have been one of these. I never could or would have met my future RO-pals (who were in the wz atm) without realm chat as it is. If not for them, & access to them, I never would have stayed & played (even tho most are long gone now, & their role as pedagogue has fallen to me & others).
FACT: RO has this nifty feature. It's called "/ignore (name)". Just use it, or simply do not use realm chat (hey, YOUR 100%BS problem 'solved'). Be oblivious to some (or much) of what the game offers in whole, as you prefer it that way. Meanwhile, why should those of us who don't mind (as much), & occasionally enjoy it, do without our spam & bs of all flavors just because of intolerant 'purists' like you?
FACT: I live every aspect of my entire life "to discover human race, variety and emotions", etc, etc, & I do so to the fullest, even in a mmorpg (FACT: this & ALL else we EVER do IS irl). "...If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right...". If you are not, you are missing out on the fullest range of opportunities that aren't currently allowed within your chosen compartmentalized-&-narrowed personal-spectrum.

Mmmm, donīt you remember when they tried this? xD If not, Iīll explain a little bit:
NGD was giving Lvl 45 Scrolls to new players... so, what did the community do? They all created new accounts... I myself did it too... didnīt use it more than one day tho, cuz I already had lvl 50 toons, and having a lvl 45.. grinding it, meh. So, the point is NGD erased all those accounts, and I think they decided not to do the same ever again. If they do, I donīt really know if there is a way to block all current players to create new accounts :/
Resuming: Yes, RO needs new players, but no, I donīt think lvl jumping would be the best choice.
Bestssss!

NGD should also get more english content on their facebook page, cause 90% is only in spanish nowadays...
And maybe launch a rvr/pvp tournament with a ranking and prizes like the one from Alienware a few years ago. That might bring at least some old players back.

Lol if you look at any of the pictures they promote its from the RA server. You can't really promote Haven due to lack of players. No new player wants to see a server that's dead as a advertisement.

That's true, but should always advertise from a positive angle. So if they would add an english translation to those RA pictures, some people can actually understand it and give the game a try. Whether they'll keep playing is something elsen...

[B]-> why low lvl players dont get rewards from capturing forts unless they are lvl 45+?
When I started playing this game, we did. I got rewards at level 24, as conjurer, during fort captures.
I don't know why this went away. Perhaps "they don't contribute enough" was the idea, but, to be honest, low levels do contribute to capturing the fort. If nothing else, they are distractions that confuse the defenders. Even if they're only holding the horses, they still contribute to the task.
I think NGD was thinking that low levels should stay inside the wall until 45th. Sorry, that's BORING. I mean... BORING. All of my toons came outside the wall at around 30th level (or earlier, in at least one case). Some of them went back inside and ground a level or five, but they were still outside the wall quite a bit.
I think the reward limitation needs to go away. If NGD wants to reward higher-level players because they "contribute more", then... calculate contributions. They do it for mobs, right? But how do you measure the worth of the Distracting Shot that put the lock out of action for 7 seconds while a barb slaughtered the conju, and then no heals were available, so the fort was taken by attrition?

I don't know if this was mentioned in this thread. I'm just adding my points to this thread.
Some tutorial videos on how to play the game, maybe levelling methods and also grind setups of each class. And also the purpose of each class, how they are played or how they are useful in war at higher levels can also be shown and uploaded to YT and shared via the offical social media platforms of CoR.
Or, a tutorial section can be added to the forum, where the new players can actually look for help.
Realm chat is dead at off-peak hours on haven, so that isn't going to be of much help.
GM/GCs aren't available 24/7 to help with queries, so I think this tutorial section would be nice, so ppl in game can actually direct the new players to the forum instead of helping and explaining the same stuff to each and every new player that joins.

Besides de tutorial -as Almighty says- a good Regnum guide in this official CoR site should be added where all the aspects of the game are well explained, from the beginning, step by step. Something like Regnum wiki but more of a guide. That could be very helpfull.

I didnt know that :) Still it seems a little concise to me. It should contain more info about everything. Like what creatures to tame, where to grind at each level, where to buy armour at certain lvls, etc. All questions that new players keep asking. Big problem if there is no one to answer their questions because then those new players can quit.

I read all of this thread and it would for sure be very nice for you guys if more players would join Haven. From this perspective, great post.
What i do miss however is how players on Haven behave. For sure more advertising would help, no harm though to look into the mirror as well.
I played a little on Haven but to be honoust, i play a game for fun and on Haven for me it is no fun.
I'll give a few examples:
- Selling my stuff on the market and then being killed by the same player 3 times within 5 minutes does not make me applaud, then it is simply for me the time to leave the game (feeling sorry of course for that person that gets pleasure of playing this way). Without a doubt every server will have such losers but having a small population the impact of such players is bigger.
- playing a support conjurer the spell 'Confuse' (i call it the spell for cowards :-) ) is almost as game over. What i noticed is the popularity of this spell on Haven. Can't blame anyone using the spells they got but 'powers/balance' is now the same for all servers where it should (to my opinion) depend on the number of players.
I really wish you all the best on Haven, it's simply not my server.
Don't forget that the way you act can also make players decide to stay or leave.

I know what you mean. Lot of losers in Haven behaving like that. I remember when i was there and i was like lvl 30-35 and I was doing a letter quest in the wz and I couldnt finish it because some high lvl asshole kept killing me time after time and mocking me by dancing and sitting on me. That was the signal to say bye bye to Haven an all that bunch of retards.
So, yes, behaviour is an important aspect of every game and therefore i am not surprised Haven is going down.

The same thing will happen on Ra, and a lot more than it would on Haven. Any game that doesn't require to turn on your PvP flag will do this to you. You're going into a free for all area, people want to get rps or finish their wmq, why would you expect to be safe whilst ridin through the wz. This is not the GAME for you :)

This kind of idiots are indeed everywhere but in Haven being low populated, there is little chance to get help from other players in that kind of situations.
I play since 2009 so dont talk to me as if I dont know what the wz is. We are talking about behaviour and this doesnt mean that when you are in the wz you have to behave like an asshole. People who behave in game like an asshole are for sure assholes in real life.
