Heya, thought we could post our current thoughts/review on the 1.7 patch here (try to be tactful with gripes and complaints).
First off I would like to recommend that NGD have larger game fix updates (balance and bug fixes) prior to content updates. Pushing content updates with the large game fixes kind of detract from the content. I know this is difficult as it is a series of give and take, but i think that it would make for a better fit between content and game fix updates. This way changing dynamics can be attributed to a content expansion or a game fix patch.
Secondly NGD needs a larger scale push towards realm (timezone) population stabilization and activity. The WarMaster expansion tries to push each realm to fight, but right now only Ignis and Alsius are fighting. Where is Syrtis? The detractor from this is that the content dynamics introduced within this update requires equal participation from each realm to keep the action going. We don't have that right now.
So what about WarMasters? Well without Time-Zone balancing working between realms we have a dominant realm, a middle realm and a passive realm. The passive realm right now being Syrtis. In a couple of hours there will be a change off and Syrtis will take the mantra of the dominant realm, ignis or alsius may go to the middle ground or become passive. This does not really work well for this expansion. Having passive realms still equate to down time. Unlike Ra we are not seeing wide spread fort taking by all parties.
One part that doesnt work well now is this daily quest system. I am stuck 10 away from 50 for one realm (Syrtis I only have 3/50 to give you an idea of the passivity I am referring too) after playing for about four hours and being involved in about 10 fort/castle fights. I would recommend something more attainable for playing for a couple of hours.
This expansion cries for server norming in my opinion. It shows that development is geared toward larger scale servers and the lower pop servers are not as positively effected by this. After all the hype a lot of people are now kind of wondering what they were hoping for.
Reversal on player xp values:
This may work for Ra, but for Horus it means we will level slower than just grinding on mobs. This is a part or an excuse for some now to come war and aids in realm passivity.
There are some other things but i think others will bring them up with more fervor.
