I tend to run under the red beast and hit belly area. Thats the only drop I have ever gotten, and I PROMPTLY gave them away. Yes gave, no mags or gold or uber gear trading. I wasn't planning to use them and I would always rather see good gear get used rather than sit untouched. Usually tho I'm in the same boat as Ara, metric assload of 'loot'. Side note, why is a tenax fire ruby only worth 30gp at merchant? It was considerably more difficult to obtain than say a moon stone from a samal orc, but same value?
